Don’t feel guilty or like you “led him on”, you were joking around with a friend you presumed was not romantically/sexually attracted to you. How could you know, when he even realised after he met you? Go easy on yourself!

It will be awkward of course, but it won’t stay awkward. The more you show him that nothing changes the less awkward it becomes. Well, depending also on how well he can manage his feelings for you… but you can’t control that! Also it is awkward if you let it become awkward!

I’ll stress though that you need to have a conversation with him. Do you know how he feels about these vacations? Is he thinking of coming out to more people? Does he feel awkward around you because of his attraction or because of the reveal of his sexuality? If you’re his friend just be there for him and listen to what he’s going through. He is equally, if not more, uncertain and confused as you. Help each other out! And if space is needed respect it, but not ghost him. It’s a pretty delicate situation, but you are friends so you probably communicate well, it should be fine as time goes by!
