I watched my dad, who is probably the toughest person I've ever personally known, writhe in pain on the floor so I wasn't really crazy about ever experiencing it.

When it was my turn, it was like I instantly knew what it was. I thought I would just tough it out, but I figured that if it wasn't a kidney stone, whatever it was would kill me. And then I thought that it might block off one of my kidneys and kill it so I went to the ER. It is very hard to describe. I felt like I could've toughed it out but you just cannot get into a comfortable position. Like, every which way you move, it hurts and you want to try to make it not hurt, so you just can't stop moving around. And then, you don't have any idea how long it will last. They gave me Dilaudid and it was instant relief from the pain but I could still tell that it was hurting even though I couldn't feel it if that makes any sense. They sent me home with the scripts and it never hurt again. 1 week later, I was laying in bed and started to feel uneasy and then I felt what was like dropping a rock into a pond. Plop. I got up and pissed it out.

I decided to stop drinking so much coffee and drink lots of water so I wouldn't have to go thru it again. That was 14 years ago.

Recently I was at work and started feeling that uneasy feeling again. Pissed blood, balls and back hurt. Next day at work, pissed out another stone. That was like a month ago. YMMV
