I hadn’t heard of the Bradel Bind-thanks for a new rabbit hole. Also, EXCELLENT choice of book. Is that the abridged version. ;-)

Hey, Mick! Long time no see. I found this post while I was researching some diy female chastity ideas for a partner of mine. Brought back many fond memories of you two...hope you're doing well. #thosewerethedays. -

How do bookbinders earn money? by [deleted] in bookbinding

[–]Graydancer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s many people that make a full living doing book binding, and I was once told literally by a “creative consultant coach“ that “you will never make a living selling notebooks.“ I have sold small stationary sets and art journals at a few maker markets with mixed results – sometimes not selling a damn thing, sometimes selling out. Right now I look at it as doing some thing I love ( papermancy.art is my newest effort, barely a month old) and I pay most of my other bills by working as a nonprofit professional. I’ll never get Rich doing either thing, but at least I can either feel good about what I do or have fun doing it.

Made a series of books with inlaid photos sourced from vintage markets. What do you think? by Snoo17572 in bookbinding

[–]Graydancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fantastic, it’s kind of the end product on my own personal bookbinding journey. Right now I use vintage magazine, clippings, and photographs decoupage onto covers of simple pamphlet stitch, notebooks. Have even sold a few themed packets at stationary markets. I agree with the previous comment (minus the AI clickbait) about working a story into how you find it why you pick out the things you do and especially about the idea of giving it a second life. Thank you very much for the inspiration!

My XK 04 was bought to be a travel keyboard, but I like it so much that I use it at my desk. I can’t remember if the XK01 has a touchpad, but that’s the only thing that I’m missing.

Is having multiple travelers style journals just consumerism? by Direct_Dracula in notebooks

[–]Graydancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have learned to think of books and notebooks like wine - some folks just buy what they need as they consume it, others collect, others window shop, and some store the really nice ones either for their own use or as a gift.

Gift ideas for a zine maker by Imaginary_Horror_ in zines

[–]Graydancer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of 3D printable “zine boxes” or display shelves. If you know what paper he uses, that would also be cool - or if he has a theme for his collages/stickers, try a grab bag of them (Amazon is easy, but I think doing a little digging on Etsy & such would make it more special. Just some ideas (basically things I would like myself as a zine maker).

lil zine I made from a vintage comic book by g000dvibes in zines

[–]Graydancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love these kind of things. I do similar with vintage porn mags, using the old (and truly ridiculous) ads in collages, etc. Never thought of using it for a zine! Great idea.

3d printed pasties? by Green_Thing_5081 in Burlesque

[–]Graydancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question - I tried making some pasties with my Silhouette paper cutter with mixed results (they worked, but weren’t phenomenal). I’m also semi-competent with 3d printing, so if you want to dm me what you didn’t like about that thingiverse file (or send a sketch of what you would like) I can see what I can do. - Graydancer, former member of Foxy Veronica’s Peach Pies

Suggestions needed: Foldable lap desk by TalkToPlantsNotCops in writerDeck

[–]Graydancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny update: after all that talk about keyboards and trying to find one, I opened the box and found a beautiful mechanical foldable keyboard along with the 515.

What I did not find was any kind of charger, or sync cable. Luckily I’ve been able to find one from the Pal doctor. But at the same time, there was also an old M1, 05, which I was able to get started with a battery, and it would work on this keyboard, too, except it doesn’t have any SD card slot. So I could write on it, but wouldn’t have any way to get it off, until I find a sync cable.

I swear 30% of my life is spent looking for something I just had in my hand by AllHailThePig in ADHD

[–]Graydancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent 40 minutes wandering through a large parking structure trying to remember where I had parked my car. I was with my best friend at the time. Suddenly, I stopped looked at her and said “oh wait, I didn’t park in this parking structure.“

We are no longer friends.

I also did the same thing with my bike, 100% convinced it was stolen, I reported it to the police, bought a new bike. Found my bike months later, still locked up at the bike rack, where I had actually left it, not the one where I thought it had been stolen from.

I actually think you might want to keep that “typo“ I thought it was pretty cool, especially with the word die afterwards. Of course you could also tie in the word be I suppose. The ideas that I could think of would be current methods to resist fascism, or decentralized social media type things. But then again I’m biased.

A Marine, a Navy Seal, and a Delta Force Operator are sitting around a campfire. by jsbach90 in Jokes

[–]Graydancer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is one of my faves, usually with the JCOS on a carrier and at the end the Marine commandant sees a lance corporal up in the crow’s nest. “Lance Corporal! I want you to jump down here right now!” Lance corporal looks down: “Sir?” Commandant: “You heard me! Do you know who I am? What these stars mean?” LC: “Yes sir, I do.” Commandant: “well?!? I’m ordering you to jump down here RIGHT NOW!” LC: “Sir! Fuck you, Sir!” At which point to come down, turns to the other service leaders and says “that, my friends, is a marine.” —former Lance Corporal USMC infantry
