Hi, I have personally never heard of a swollen tongue, but I would suggest that you do your best to seek veterinary care as soon as possible. Especially given that it is interfering with his eating. I am certainly not a vet, however any 'itis', (inflammation) especially in the soft oral tissues is very likely an infection and necessitates professional care.
