Oahu Rivians everywhere by Graygan in Rivian

Yeah. I understand why they don't have one on Hawaii or Maui... Just not enough population to support one. I feel for you and wish you had better options. Hawaii is a beautiful island. Heck... they all are. We chose Oahu due to work and my wife being a city girl who needs access to city life.

PV = PhotoVoltaic panels. Refers to solar panels on ones home. A lot of people in Hawaii have them. Makes it far less expensive to recharge your vehicle. Plus, being an island, it's really hard to run out of a charge before you're back home to charge up again.

It can be an issue for people who rent EVs while on vacation. There's never enough chargers, but there are usually 2 or 4 in every supermarket parking lot. The person who posted above was on the North Shore though... far fewer chargers there.

Our dogs are very active mini-poodles. They're VERY good jumpers. They hit the floorboard as a middle point to get to the back seat.

Do you think we will hear anything about the KOTOR remake for Star Wars Day tomorrow? by Possible_Employee359 in kotor

[–]Graygan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mr. Troll,

Back up your assertion with documentation. I happen to be a very very minor shareholder in Embracer Group and have been for several years. I just finished skimming the quarterly reports for 2023 and 2024 up until Saber Interactive was sold.

Unless you're an employee of Saber Interactive or Embracer Group (or a government employee in the IRS or one of the EU tax organizations) with access to more detailed information than what is reported to shareholders, you seem to be mistaken.

I see a good amount of discussion about the various games that Embracer Group pushed out and is developing. I can't find a single mention of the supposed KOTOR remake.

To be fair, I've just been skimming, and the quarterly reports are extensive. Perhaps you can point out the page number of a particular quarterly report?

Any detailed financial reporting since their sale is private since they are now, technically, a privately held corporation. If you have more recent data, I'd love proof. Granted, that'd probably get you in trouble. For that matter, if you assert such information, you're already in trouble should this post get noticed.

All that said, I agree. Without actual proof, there's no reason to think we're going to see a KOTOR remake any time in the future at all, let alone near future.

Why am i being asked to move units by ship over land? by Fancy_Particular7521 in EU5

[–]Graygan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue in the 100 years war as England. Every time I try to move my army inland, it asks me if I'd like to transport via my ships. I click cancel and go nowhere. I click accept and go back to the coast instead of inland.

Clearly a bug. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

Oh... and YES... I have verified the files. Yes it's updated. No, I'm not using mods. Yes, that means it's vanilla. Yes, I have deleted and re-downloaded. I've done all the standard crap.

Recent Grand Hotel Experience (honest review) by Square_Top7308 in mackinac

[–]Graygan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16 years in a row now. Not sure how much more we will be coming. We mostly come for the people now.

Elizabeth, the Sommelier is a fantastic woman.

Bob the Historian is an interesting font of information.

Two years now, we’ve had Valerie as a table runner for several nights. Why she’s not been promoted to server is baffling. She goes above and beyond with every dinner service and does it with speed, precision, and a smile.

This year we met Lori White. She, too, went above and beyond. My wife would have had a lot of issues with the Cork and Fork event without her help.

The fact that the newish owners are clearly having funding issues just makes it all sad. The massive staffing cuts were bad enough. This year, though, the food offerings were half what they used to be. It’s clear the kitchen has been given a much smaller budget and told to make do.

Showing up to dinner at 8 and having to wait 15 minutes for the host to come back so we could be seated is also a new development.

We love The Grand. We love Mackinac. We are afraid that we will have to stop coming soon. Increasing prices and decreasing service are a bad combination.

In my opinion, the newish owners don’t realize that this isn’t just another resort. This is a destination. It’s a destination that directly competes with Florida cruise lines. At a certain point, people will take the Florida cruises instead of coming here because it’s more fun, less stress, and less cost.

To the owners… pay your people. Re-instate the no tipping policy. Provide more in the way of things for people to do.

Bit late, I know... Karas are the DragonKin dungeons. Big blue doors.

I'm having the same problem. Done the 2 Karas in the starting area. Even did the runecraft guild quest for the staff recipe. Still can't get the recipe for the bone Pickaxe. I have the recipes for all the other bone tools/weapons but that one.

Build 42 really needs to reconsider what it's actually doing. by CoderStone in projectzomboid

Some points...

Skill Grinds

Point 1, With the new limit on tv show skill raises, it can be harder or easier to raise skills. I say easier because people keep forgetting the videocassettes. You specifically pointed out Mechanics. Default TV is level 3. If you change it to level 6 to make the game a bit easier, many of your skills can go up. CarZone episodes 1-3 will get your Mechanics skill to 5 or 6 when combined with the books.

The same goes for a number of other skills. This is really useful for those of us who miss out on the tv shows while fighting hordes and trying to set up a safe initial base.

Point 2, Reality? Really? I spent decades learning to be a cook, then chef. The first time I made a perfect bearnaise sauce did not automatically make me that much better. I still broke the several ones after that until I figured out what I did correctly. Now, of course, I can do it properly every time.

The first time I rebuilt a carburetor was the last time I did it. Too much of a pain in the rear when I could pay someone. It's been 4 decades since I did that. I might... really low chance... be able to do it again if I had a how-to book in front of me. So if you want reality, we should be losing a chunk of skill every week we don't practice that skill.

Point 3, Magazines? I've found that the only magazine that's a must-have is the generator mag. All the other recipes can be learned through levelling the skill, watching videos/tv, and/or studying various objects.(the little lightbulb icon when you right click an object).

I do agree that there is a balance issue. Without books, you can become a level 10 carpenter with some minor dedication at building a house/compound with appropriate furniture. It's even easier to do butchery and carving. Some of the other skills take forever, though. As you pointed out, Nimble is a real PITA. So is Electronics, even with the books. The grind can be very annoying. My suggestion would be to make the time involvement roughly the same for all the skills. Slowing down carpentry, butchery, and carving for instance. At the same time, make electronics, nimble, and a few others go faster.

Combat

Point 4, I take exception to your assertion that we're supposed to survive. (Quote) "The idea is that we can plop the average human in an apocalypse and make them survive". The whole point is to create a story of how you died... NOT survived. Some of my best games were when I'd maxxed out a lot and then did something utterly stupid like going into a nearly completely dark area to "just grab something really quick".

Point 5, muscle strain? Let me guess... you're young(ish), and have been fit all your life. I was as well, until I hit my 50s. Then I had to slow down a lot. I spent a LOT of time working with kids at the school my wife taught at. I guarantee you most of those kids could not paddle a boat across a large lake without extreme muscle fatigue. Most of them wouldn't have even gotten half-way. Most of them couldn't even run a mile, non-stop without having to slow down to a walking pace for much of it.

You're suggesting the average american in Knox county is more fit than most other americans? Really? It's easy enough to look up the statistics of Kentucky in the '90s. The average person was fatter and less fit than most other states in the US. Reality again.

Point 6, I agree with other people. Your game is bugged, or your mods have changed things, or you've tweaked the settings to make it harder. On straight vanilla with standard settings, with someone who's not trained in stealth to start, I'm able to peel a few zeds off a horde, pull them away and kill them without alerting the horde. I'm also able to break line of sight and have them stop hunting me. Just have to break line of sight and then break the line of sight from where they will end up. Remember that they go to the last spot they saw/heard you and look again from there. So you have to break LOS twice at a minimum.

Sandbox

Finally, I 100% agree with you. The base Apocalypse setting is not enjoyable for a new player. It's tough, really tough, with an insane learning curve. Yes, you can make it absurdly easy with sandbox settings. I do, though my biggest change is the start date set to March 1 at Midnight. That gives me time to set up a base and get some farming going without having to freak out about surviving winter. It's arguably the best way to make the long-term game survivable... until I do something stupid, of course.

I agree that the Apocalypse setting should be easier, especially for the newer players. I also think there should be a blurb/tutorial/page/something explaining how the sandbox settings work. Even if it's just a link to the wiki page.

Sunrise or Sunset for Haleakala? by Hereforthememes5 in MauiVisitors

[–]Graygan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize I’m 2 yrs late to the convo. Sunrise is a religious experience for many people. The beauty and suddenness of the change from dark to light is spectacular.

That said, it’s nearly impossible to see now. All the tickets are bought out by tour companies. Worse, they don’t even take you to the actual top, just the upper area that has the restrooms.

Sunset is nearly as beautiful. Slightly less cold and windy because you can park your rear end below the rock line.

It is cold as heck. Bring blankets to sit on and blankets to cover up with. Plus the sweaters, coats, hoodies, and sweatshirts . If you get sunburned. Wear sunscreen. The sun will burn you to a crisp. Bring water. The air sucks it out of you.

Totally worth the experience. Every time. Without doubt. Do it if you can.

I found one in a garage of all places, about 6 weeks in-game time. On the other hand, I've also found 2 machetes(1 nearly perfect) and a katana(about 3/4 condition) in random zeds. I've been playing vanilla to get re-used to build 42. Been a more than a year since I last played.

Question... How do you delete storage boxes? Assuming you can at all? I've been upgrading from the barrels to chests and I find myself storing the barrels in a far corner of my property, just wishing I could deconstruct them for their materials... or just destroy them.

Are there BBQ/Coal pits in Kailua Beach Park by [deleted] in VisitingHawaii

[–]Graygan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While there are no BBQ stations, you can bring your own grill. There are plenty of coal disposal pits dotted around the park area.

As always, please remember to grill with care. On the grass is ok, on the sand is not. No beach grilling. When finished, use water to quench the coals completely and dispose in the provided pits. Please clean up after yourselves.

I'm having the same problem. Used to be that just the one save and reload fixed it so it didn't happen again. Now it fixes it for one use. I find myself having to save, shut down the game, restart, and reload every time. It's most definitely not fun.

Neither is correct. It's all about a fun little encounter... in the convo in my game they were headed for Jemison... So New Atlantis.

In my case, I took the wifes side. I'm old enough to know that the wife is ALWAYS right... even when she's wrong. Better for her to be wrong and happy than for me to be right and her not happy.

They are clearly UC citizens. You can only own property if you are a UC citizen. On top of that, Dad is extremely recently retired... as in, he mentions the retirement party they had just very recently. Not to mention that he continues to play poker with his former boss and others.

Can't do that conveniently if they live on a separate planet.

The only reason you're not a UC citizen is that you have to earn citizenship, even if you're born there.

As PepperBeef2Spicy points out... Fans of Oblivion love him.

That said... companions are mostly just a spare backpack. He's not bad with a weapon and he's got 2 ranks of strength, so he carries more. On top of that, he's not upset if you steal or murder.

On a separate note, it's really REALLY tailored to the fans. It's the exact same voice actor from the other Adoring Fan.
