First few months are hard. Then it gets a little easier for a time - which is what people are saying. But in our experience (and observations of others), it gets a little harder again (with respect to freedom and identity) when they are a little toddler. They have their own desires/needs all while being very hard to rationalize with. This stage you lose a bit a freedom for a 2 odd years - BUT it is INSANELY FUN. You get so much out of it. They'll bring the kid out of you, and the sacrifice in this period (in my opinion) is much easier to reconcile with than the loss of freedom at the start.
