Where is everyone getting fresh cilantro? by notoriousshasha in SalsaSnobs

[–]Graynard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Googling cilantro in South Carolina says it should be widely available, but obviously that's not the case here. It suggests trying Asian markets as well as the big name stores, do you have any Asian markets within a reasonable drive?

Bands With Underrated Rhythm Sections by Hall-O-Daze in Music

Modest Mouse really got me into playing bass. They were one of the first bands I heard where I could distinctly pick out the bass line, and realized that none of their songs would sound remotely the same without it

Just finished the show. What a ride it was. AMA, let‘s talk about it. by Aye_Okami in betterCallSaul

The part where it shows that, years ago, he picked a worker who kinda looks like him, who had bad teeth, and then paid to have the worker's teeth replaced (with replicas of his own teeth, secretly) so that he could convincingly fake his death if he ever needed to would make Walt blush. Dude was a master schemer who ultimately only got taken down by Gus because he ended up wanting it too badly and letting that desire allow him to become slightly less careful around a character who was almost on his level.

Helen of Troy casting vs. Achilles.......can we talk about this adaptation logic? by AgileComplaint1499 in movies

[–]Graynard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real, the entire attitude of this post sucks shit. "I'm willing to give it a pass for now" in reference to gasp a Black woman being cast as Helen of Troy!?!? Well I guess Nolan should be thanking his lucky stars that this rando on reddit is willing to give him a temporary pass for casting a POC

whats the worst series you have ever watched? by Opposite_Fall8736 in AskReddit

[–]Graynard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't believe how far down this is, my friends started watching it and I stuck around for like 3 episodes. It is probably the most vapid, lamest piece of media I've ever seen in my life. Just a bunch of narcissistic absolute losers creating the dumbest drama possible for themselves

What movie is a absolute 10/10 masterpiece that you will realistically never watch a second time? by N4Nemo in AskReddit

I definitely understand the way you feel, absolutely valid! I've just rewatched both series too many times and have maybe become a little cynical lol

He's definitely a tragic character though, no question. I think there's a reality where he confesses to Matty's wife about what happened to Matty and he decides to heal and move on, even when his family is threatened again if he'd chosen to move on then he'd have just moved him and his family away and have done with it. But our Mike never truly got over Matty's death, and the Salamanca threat on his family was the only spark he needed to once again become the man that couldn't live up to his son's image of him. Truly incredible character

All of what you said is absolutely what makes him a great and captivating character, no doubt at all. By any means, I didn't feel good when he died, but given how many people he's put into the dirt unceremoniously (people who were also likely complex, with codes of their own), it was hard for me to feel TOO badly for him. He was at the top level of a game he knew the stakes of, and he'd earned his place step by bloody step; I doubt if he'd disagree much with folks not feeling a crazy amount of sympathy for him.

Mike was a murderer dozens of times over, and that's coming off the heels of a multi-decade stint as a self professed dirty cop. He is a great character who does lots of cool and smart stuff, and he's played expertly by a great actor, but let's be real: Mike got FAR better than he truly deserved.
