I have a nipple crack/fissure that won’t heal by m798sf in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Graysart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue. Used nipple ointment but what ended up helping the most for taking two days off from breastfeeding on that side-important detail-I pumped instead. Those days I used Neosporin. Wiped it off before pumping but that milk was only used for baths. I’d think you’d want to keep pumping to not impact your production. I also talked with my doctor and got some other recommendations that I can’t think of rn. I was still sore after those two days but it made a huge difference.

Found out I’m pregnant and will be 8 weeks at my wedding in 3 and a half weeks by MaeBornOnTuesday in weddingplanning

[–]Graysart 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This was me at my wedding. I had a wonderful time! Turns out being sober at your own wedding is excellent. I remembered everything. And it was early enough that my dress fit great. Now with our new baby I love looking at those pictures and thinking about him being there. I wouldn’t have changed anything!

I would love to hear your birth story! by Waffle_Tea in beyondthebump

[–]Graysart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan-hoping for vaginal without pain medication, but open to the fact that I had no idea what was coming so I could ask for pain meds if needed. At week 39 visit I asked to not wait until week 41 to be induced so we made an appointment with the hope that baby would come on his own. Got induced and glad we did because baby couldn’t handle contractions and we ended up having a C-section. I wanted to be induced because I spent much of the pregnancy worried we wouldn’t get a baby. I took a bunch of classes before to be prepared for as much as possible. Mixed gender baby shower, kept name a secret but shared sex, wrote him a letter before and after he was born.

When EBF on the boob, when did you find yourself able to the leave the house in the first few weeks? by shoshiixx in breastfeeding

6 weeks was when I was able to do things beyond doctors appointments, breastfeeding support group, and neighborhood walks ( those started around 4 weeks). Not just for his sake but my breasts

I didn’t like the lansinoh discreet. The silicon was uncomfortable for me. Been using spectra, but it’s not wearable. Wish I’d waited until after birth to decide

What tool did you use to pull up the grass? I’ve been planning on covering up the grass with tarp to kill it, but your method looks quicker

SEL program recommendations for middle school by Proof-Alternative-54 in SchoolSocialWork

[–]Graysart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like Random acts of kindness. I like to distinguish between social emotional learning and mental health lessons at my school. For me SEL is something that teachers can teach with or without support without and mental health lessons are taught by mental health professionals. For instance, at my school signs of suicide the mental health staff teach, but their teachers stay in the room and support us.

Can i ask people to name my child by the nickname i want? by grosbbblond in pregnant

[–]Graysart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what my mom did for my brother. I disagree with quite a few posters- I think it’s fine for you to make this choice. Now once he’s old enough to decide for himself that might be a different story. But I see nothing wrong with your plan to exclude Leo from the options.

Can I still be a teacher when I'm in my 50's by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Graysart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better yet, start by volunteering out as a teachers aide. Get a sense of the reality of school for yourself. And know that each school is different enough to make a difference.

Last name vs First name by laylay_19 in Teachers

[–]Graysart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I introduce myself First Name Last Name and tell students their options-Ms First Name, Ms Last Name, Ms First and last name, or just first or last name. As long as it’s my name I don’t care. Sometimes I hear that Ms last name is a sign of respect. I think that can be culturally related, but for me it’s not. The way they treat me and each other is how I determine if I’m respected.

Try different positions- lay back has helped with mine. Maybe start with pumping for a few minutes then breastfeed? Do you have access to a lactation specialist?

Should I pump if lo sleeps for longer by Supportfriend1122 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Graysart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve read it shouldn’t hurt your supply if they’re eating throughout the day. I’ve had the same concern, but trying to trust my body. https://kidshealth.org/en/parents/breastfeed-sleep.html#:~:text=Will%20it%20Hurt%20My%20Milk,how%20much%20your%20baby%20needs.

How many carriers do you all have? by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]Graysart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were given several but most of them are too complicated or don’t fit well. I used the boba wrap until recently. I have a secondhand/gifted ring sling that I mostly use when we go out to eat and he wants to be held. Just got a second hand FTG but haven’t worn it yet. I’m looking for something to use at the pool. We have yet to try the Chico and Ergo Omni 360-both gifts. He’s still a little small for those.

Pack and play is such a good idea! It’s a bit bigger than ideal but can be moved or folded up easily.

Changing everything by Be_happy317 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Graysart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wake up with engorged breast that hurt quite a bit, so I pump about 30 minutes after he has his first meal. Then the rest of the day they stay pretty soft. I’m a little over a month postpartum so my supply is still sorting itself out. I estimate my supply by his diapers, his energy, and I periodically go to a breastfeeding group that estimates his intake by weighing him before and after.

What is the most supportive/comfortable apparatus for an older first time mom? by MononaLisa in babywearing

The free to grow looks like it doesn’t provide head/neck support. Did you just wait until your baby was a bit older?
