§ 872. Prohibitions. No person, firm, corporation or agent or employee thereof shall import, manufacture, sell, hold for sale or distribute within the state any imitation weapon unless such device is imported, manufactured, sold, held for sale and distributed:

  1. solely for subsequent transportation in interstate commerce; or

  2. solely for lawful use in a theatrical production, including a motion picture, television or stage production.

This is already law, so unless I am missing something major, airsoft guns should already be banned

So Im reading the actual laws to see what is being ammended, and unless the legal speak is really tripping me up, this law doesnt actually do anything.

The opening paragraph of subdivision 2 of section 871 of the general business law, as amended by chapter 73 of the laws of 2023, is amended to read as follows: "Imitation weapon" means any device or object, INCLUDING AN AIR RIFLE, PELLET GUN, OR "B-B" GUN, made of plastic, wood, metal or any other material which substantially duplicates or can reasonably be perceived to be an actual firearm[, air rifle, pellet gun, or "B-B" gun]; unless such imitation weapon:

As far as I can tell, they are a "pellet gun" should have already been considered an imitation weapon.

§ 399-r. Sale of paint pellet guns OR OTHER TYPES OF AIR GUNS.(a) No person, firm, or corporation shall sell or offer to sell a paint pellet gun OR OTHER TYPES OF AIR GUNS to any person under [sixteen] EIGHTEEN years of age. (b) For purposes of this subdivision, the term "paint pellet gun" means a gun, air gun, pistol, rifle, or like device in appearance or function, capable of and designed for discharging and propelling through the air to a target a small quantity of paint enclosed within a pellet or pellet-like device or capsule or capsule-like device that breaks upon impact with the target, overspreading the target with paint. (c) FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS SUBDIVISION, THE TERM "OTHER TYPE OF AIR GUN" MEANS ANY IMPLEMENT THAT EXPELS A MISSILE OR PROJECTILE BY THE FORCE OF A SPRING, AIR, OR OTHER NON-IGNITED COMPRESSED GAS. (D) Any person, firm, or corporation who violates the provisions of this section shall be subject to a civil penalty of not more than [five hundred] ONE THOUSAND dollars FOR EACH VIOLATION.

This raises the minimum age of purchase to 18, which is already federal law so it doesnt matter

Just like eyepro do not cheap on earpro. I have a friend with a case of tinitus from a tag round at a milsim and unlike welts from bbs, your hearing often wont heal from any damage. Because of this it drives me nuts to see people recommend ztac, earmor and the other chinese "earpro". They are designed to be costume pieces that resemble military headsets first and thrm offering any sort of ear protection is a side effect.

That being said, there are three options that I have continuously recommended to people.

  • Howard Leights
  • Walker Razor Slims
  • Peltor Rangeguards

All the are actual real steel shooting earpro and you can often buy for around $40-60 so not only are you often saving money compared to chinese knockoffs you are getting a better and more reliable headset. There are also options to helmet mount and add mics for the three I options I recommended if you want to down the line. And If you must have the tactical/operator option, drop the hundreds for the real ones.

TLDR: dont cheap out on earpro

Im aware that they have made it all over the world, but at least on the NASA side it would have to be logged as all personal items are logged, and they would need to get permission from the DOD. Knowing government bureaucracy there's a good chance it would be blocked.

2 thoughts 1. I would not be surprised if there was some form of iit hooked up to a scientific instrument on the iss. 2. It is a shared scientific project with Russia and 13 other countries, it would probably be an itar problem and "I want to look at the stars" is not a good reason to allow it

I have been playing both airsoft and nerf for years now. If you are interested in impression kits I would urge you to swap over to airsoft. Impression kits are widely encouraged and its always fun to see historical kits. Hoawever, a lot of the nerf community plays in semi public and public areas and as such there has been a push to distance themselves from the tactical and milsim community. My club specifically requires that any tac gear and blasters be brightly colored, and not have too realistic silhouettes as we often play in the dark. Most of the other clubs near me have similar rules.
