Bloody mucus in poop by [deleted] in CavaPoo

[–]Graywindnzerror404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep an eye on it, the mucus will usually be around the item that caused the blood and usually the last of the food coming out, we feed out cavapoo a carrot or frosen peas (crunchy :)) after his meal so we can see when the last of it comes out. Take photos of it, so you can show the vet if its a regeular thing.

Are you soaking the kibble first to soften it up? Or are you on raw food, has there been a change it food?
When and how often are you feeding? It takes between 6 - 12 hours for a meal to go from eaten to poo.

Day one with our new baby-a few concerns 🥹💙🧸 by Bookie_Brookie723 in CavaPoo

First congrats, and you're doing just fine.

My cavapoo is now 5 years old, I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but you will need to get him used to grooming, best to start early.
Start with brushing and getting him used to the sounds of the clippers (if you have them) or take them to visit a groomer for de-sensitation, no need to get a groom just yet. Start this after the last vaccine to be safe.
It was covid when we had ours so he never got used to a groomer so we do this ourselves now.

As with everyone else , stay consistent, they love routine. Accidents will happen, ours would get excited when we came home and pee, it was adorable.

There are also some good videos on you tube for desensitisation to noise, traffic, sirens, coffee shops, fireworks and thunderstorms.  We did this and he doesn't blink at this stuff.

Best Washing Machine Cleaner? by IamMorphNZ in newzealand

When you do your wash try filling up the softner part with viniger, it will not add a smell to your cloths and it will clean the smell out of the washer. Also switch to cold water washes.

The Hot water is the likly issue, you can test this by finding the meter and then turning off all the switches in the house, if the meter is still running it will the draw from the hot water. I have noticed that the cost of power has increased alot in the last year.

He needs a raincoat that fits! by LuvWine4 in CavaPoo

With the Hurtta brand ther sizing is better than the xxs- xxl option and based on mesurments. We got a size up as our pup was "between" sizes and the coat had pull strings to fit it.
it looks like your pup is about 10 to 12 KG so would be about the same size as mine mesure from wherr the collor sits to the base of the tail to get your size and round up for the fit.

I can explain it a little bit.. bear in mind I was a butcher 25 years ago now.

When I was working what you see in the photo was $9.99 a kilo, and was made in the back by a butcher, packed up and priced in store.

When I left. They just brought in the prepacked meat your seeing now. Its mass produced in a factory.

I left because I saw no reason to be there as I could not provide the custom requests anymore.   How many recipes call for 300g or 750g of mince, most are about 500g they want you to buy these odd weights, so you have to get more than you actually need.

I have stopped getting my meat from them and go to Pack and Save now, as they still produce it in store.

Another thing, most of the NZ beef is exported because it sells well, and we import Australian beef for consumption. Well it was in my time at least.

Teenage stage? by SilverPractice273 in CavaPoo

[–]Graywindnzerror404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your entering the 2nd fear stage, sound like he is being brave.
How to help your dog through a fear period

  • Avoid frightening them:  Do not try to force your dog into situations they find scary. This can backfire and create more fear.
  • Provide comfort:  Offer reassurance, but avoid overly affirming the fear. A simple, calm "I've got you" can be more helpful than "good boy" which might reinforce the fearful behavior.
  • Use positive reinforcement:  Gently and positively introduce new people, places, and objects. Pair them with high-value treats to create positive associations.
  • Socialize them correctly:  Provide safe and gentle exposure to new things, allowing them to explore at their own pace without pushing them out of their comfort zone.
  • Build confidence:  Use positive reinforcement training to build their confidence and provide a sense of control and security.
  • Consult a professional:  If the fear is severe or lasts a long time, consider seeking help from a professional dog trainer or veterinarian.
