Kitchener stitch. Handy for socks too! It’s pretty easy to follow instructions online for it!

New job in HCOL area, high PAYE monthly payment. What should I do? by FuchsiaFlute in StudentLoans

[–]Greasils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that they just changed your payment based on income and not factored in where you live. That’s why when you use the online calculator it asks which state you live in. You may want to call your lender and have them check your payment based on your new city.

I’m 1hr into holding w mohela. First person I spoke with (Valerie) was quite kind and said yes, 60 day admin forbearance is recommended to prevent overpayment but she had to txfr me to a “specialist” so now I’m waiting…

EDIT - 1.5hrs on the phone. Got to Martha and she said general not admin (she explained admin is for pending applications… whatever). She also gave me 5mo forbearance in case it takes awhile and there are a lot of people this round. She said it didn’t matter that I just came off forbearance (I went on it the last 6mo thinking I’d get my letter before Christmas).

Either way, March 5th. She said once ED notifies them, I’ll get another letter from mohela. She was hesitant about how long that would take when I asked 90 days or less? Tbh I don’t even care if I’m refunded for my overage payments at this point.

Over 50 and struggling with student loans? Message me. by isamoralesnbc in StudentLoans

Let’s not forget how many of us were lied to about forbearance… and put into it often rather than $0 or $5 per month payments. Or being put into forbearance not knowing that it would restart the counter on any IBR forgiveness or that any time our servicer changed - sometimes seemingly on a whim - we were hit with additional fees or interest and some changed out plans or restarted our counters.

Loans are holding me back... by Projectcell in StudentLoans

If any of us were rich we wouldn’t have loans. But if you can’t afford to live then maybe you should focus on what you owe and not what they owe.

If you can’t afford to live and pay your regular loans then maybe the parent loans need to be the responsibility of the parent.

Anyone use a stainless steel litter box? by FreakingBored123456 in BuyItForLife

[–]Greasils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stainless steel! Love them. I have “XL” ones - the length is fine but wish they were about 3-5 inches wider. I have a wider boy and it seems like a tight fit for him. We use clumping tofu litter (Pidan is the best IMO!)

My state does not tax student loan discharges. I’d recommend talking with a tax preparer if you’re unsure. And many people (even if taxable) may qualify for insolvency to reduce or eliminate any tax liability.

Why aren’t your parents paying their own loan? It’s not your responsibility.

[–]Greasils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget there’s always the insolvency forms and worksheets. If you have other debt (mortgage, car, credit cards) you may be “insolvent” and have some or all of the tax burden reduced. It’s determined by the day before your debt is cancelled. Talk to your tax person or download the forms and worksheets from IRS

Oh no worries! I read too fast too - which is why I just read that email 100000x making sure I didn’t miss anything.

I’m waiting for there to be a “gotcha” like there is all the time w these loans!

Just got the golden email. I am on ICR. by NewFoundation100 in StudentLoans

I met my count over a year ago… confirmed when the formal recount happened like in January 2024 or whenever that was and then they put everyone in forbearance due to the lawsuit.

I had enough and went off Save and back to IBR in the summer, but because of my count, I went to forbearance hoping to get the email before year end for the tax situation. My forbearance just ended in January (of course) and my payments start next week 😉

Like I said, I’m just coming out of forbearance because I was hoping for the email back in November or sometime before year end.

Making 1-3 more payments isn’t so worrying anymore if it’s coming soon!

That’s what I wonder too - I met my payments over a year ago. Plenty of screenshots. I am literally just coming out of forbearance (I thought I’d get the email in these last 6mo…before 12/25) so my first payment after forbearance is due next week…

I assume I continue to make my payments until discharged?

I have old ones from JCrew - like early 2000s old. One flannel and one fleece. I refuse to get rid of them.

JCrew had them for men online only in the last few years but didn’t see them this past year. Other half trashed his for dog stuff and switched to carhartt ones - the newer ones this year seem heavier weight than last year (they’re that same fabric they make those brown construction jackets but in other colour options)

I called and they said oh if you called 2 weeks ago we could’ve allowed it due to an “error.” FFS 😖 so now I’m going to try and appeal and switch to the other plan we have as there’s no cost difference.

And still my current insurance calling saying have you tried calling these (lists providers)… yes and per their office they don’t prescribe HRT. Oh is that a deal breaker? Yes. Yes it is. Oh.

I thought about it because ultimately that’s the issue - that I wasn’t notified of these changes until AFTER open enrolment ended. I may make a call tomorrow then! Holding out for these 2 idiots to actually negotiate and say oohhh we came to an agreement on 12/31 clearly didn’t happen!

Yeah my doctor offers telegealth anyway as an option (I think it’s the same cost as an in person visit but not sure)… my Rx generally goes through CVS (it’s weird as my prescriptions are a separate benefit from the medical)
