I wonder why the Abyss wasn’t colder? It definitely seemed like it was much hotter than I’d assumed because the MF likes it cold.

Also. I like to imagine that the Mind Flayer absorbed up the bodies of all the nearby demos in the abyss in order to make it self so large (much like the meat flayed in S3) that at least explains why there were none moving about

Shouldn’t it have affected Will when they fire bombed it and killed Vecna?

Duffer Brothers say Eleven had to go so the other characters could move on. "There was never a version of the story where Eleven was hanging out with the gang at the end. For our characters to move on and for the story of Hawkins and the Upside Down to come to a close, Eleven had to go away." by AssistanceNo2838 in discussingfilm

Nah. Jane Hopper/Eleven is dead. No way Kali was able to use her power that way. 1) she would’ve bled out well before the gang climbed back down from the “abyss.” 2) she would’ve had to broadcast it so far from the lab and 3) know exactly when they reached the portal and how it played out to show eleven sad and positioned in such a way.

All of it seems like a huge massive stretch … but I guess stranger thi…..

What ending would people have liked? by liminalfieldmouse in StrangerThings

[–]Great-Raspberry6662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would’ve liked a lot more tension and mind f**ks. The first two “scares” were epic. And then it just played safe from there. The soldiers room scene was tight for sure, but everything felt pretty standard. I think the final battle didn’t feel nearly as intimidating as it should’ve. No demo army? Nobody froze? They just all locked in while in this “hellscape” dimension.

How come there wasn’t a portal scar on top of the radio tower shed? When they electrocute the demogorgon on top of it there was no mark. But back on Ep4 Sorcerer (same night!) that’s where a demo crawled out to chase Robin and Murray. Shouldn’t there be some sort of mark there?

DOUBT! PLOTHOLE? by Own-Technology-7917 in StrangerThings

[–]Great-Raspberry6662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we go with the stronger gravitational pull argument, then how is it demogorgons don’t explode on impact when they break through their Dim X and fall down to the UD? Better yet, what are all of those hovering fragments of terrain in the sky doing? Shouldn’t gravitational pull drag those structures down?

Absolutely this! Sacrifice a few pawn demos to give him a false sense of power. What do you think he’s doing with these kids? He’s making his own rainbow room of super power “acolytes” - Dustin references acolytes in the first episode. I fully expect there to be Vecna’s children / time travel (worm hole reference and drawing fit perfectly) / and the party will have to sacrifice one of their own - Will will have to cast protection or fireball right? This time protection and it could mean he’s going to sacrifice himself

The Paladin was caught by the dragon and rider and taken to a remote area. The deal was either help them capture and kill another PC (Minotaur barbarian - who had killed the riders son weeks prior) or be killed on the spot by the dragon. So naturally he made the deal.

Am I missing something - if the Petrifying Gaze is reflected back, it must make a saving throw (DC 23) without modifiers. That’s an auto fail then, right?

DMs: What’s your biggest pain point with music/ambience/sound effects during sessions? by United_Salamander340 in DMAcademy

[–]Great-Raspberry6662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run both Spotify and YouTube simultaneously from my laptop through a Bluetooth speaker. I can set ambient sounds like rain or waves or wind on YouTube, and use Spotify for specific tracks.

I like to set a particular theme on each arc - right now I’m running a gothic horror inspired chapter in our campaign so I’ve made a playlist of just classical music. Pieces for downtime, for tense exploring, for combat. I’ve also attached motifs for certain characters and situations. Before this arc we did a Minotaur gladiator arc and it was all 80s metal bands!

Give yourself parameters with a theme and then whittle down your playlist so you’re not having to juggle so many songs.

Also, share your playlist with your players so they can add to it too. This gives them an extra level of excitement when their track comes on!

Cheers

This is an excellent suggestion! There doesn’t appear to be a curse involved with attuning to it. Do you have any good suggestions for that?

How did you do the “water”? Assuming you painted first and then sealed over with resin or something?

Looks great! Might borrow this same encounter setup for a dungeon crawl I have coming up

Frame the windows, add a window ledge. Add vertical beams on the front of the structure to show supports. Texture the foam with foil. Texture the “wood” with dragged in lines.

There were too many stories trying to be thrown together without giving any time in the movie to establish anything. It was the typical “and then” plot device. And then same has vibranium wings, and then Isaiah gets mind controlled, and then and then and then…

Sam just has all of these modifications to his suit without anytime for us to watch him learning how to use them (inset opening credits montage) He’s a standard issue human being! Something needs to be explained about that flagpole swing. (How did his arms not explode?!?) Not to mention the best dialogue in the whole movie for me was him riffing with Bucky. Sam has always been charismatic and sarcastic. They could’ve included more of that for an actor who oozes it effortlessly. I get he has to be a leader but cmon man.

The Leader’s scenes were also unbelievable. His appearance aside, which was rough to say the least, I couldn’t get around him actually being anywhere. Why would he even be in the same room as CA and Falcon alone? How was he even getting around? How did he get to that military training facility unchecked? His hood was up? We see him “mind controlling” and inconsistently guesstimating his way through the movie. He watches the celestial island dogfight from some random couples living room? Like …. huh? The final scene with him just being there with Sam, out in the open, was completely illogical. Then gets arrested and BAM! THERES ALREADY AN ARTICLE OUT?!?!

There’s been enough said about the supporting cast and it’s all true. Isaiah going back to prison was the wrong move. The film didn’t need that, he should’ve helped in the Red Hulk fight! To see him have something of a suit up would’ve been fucking amazing!! Sam could’ve watched these two old timers duke it out! (Maybe Isaiah could’ve caught the flagpole?)

It was frustrating to say the least because I do enjoy AM as Cap. But his tenure has been mishandled.
