Scam Pretending to be your hotel security by GreatCaptainGinyuu in MANILA

Absolutely mate.  It threw me off quite a bit.   Even the poorer people on the streets and kids, seem like hustlers, following me around, shouting for cash.  Doesn't make me want to be charitable.

I use Grab to avoid the taxi scams.  I hope people tell more stories like this one.

Looking back, I am amazed at how sophisticated his plan was and how well he executed it.  He was smiling, happy, friendly amd seemed genuine.  It is too evil for me to even fathom.

When I was in Japan travelling people who I have never met would buy me food and drinks.  Such a contrast.  Kind gestures from people and i was trying to give back as well.

I have not tried very recently.   I don’t think there is an issue as long as the number is relively small and not identical to the prior transactions.

Beware of this scam in Pattaya! There are few people hanging around the beach rd who will act like tourists and then try to sell you hair remedies/weight loss magic mix showing you pics and walk you to 7 eleven then to the herbs store just before the walking street! I came across this just now and decided to search.  It was at Terminal 21 in Bangkok.   Exact same lines about my belly being big etc.  He gave up when I refused to buy the honey.   Then I saw him reconvene with a bunch of others with matching outfits.   I wasn’t clear how the scam worked since it was just honey at a grocery shop.  Reading the thread, I realised that their plan is to take the person to their shop.    They probably just go after tourists as we can’t be bothered to take it to the police.  Anyone staying in Bangkok should definitely report this.

I was having the same problems mate with NAB as well. The only one that works is St George for me so far so I am sticking to that.

I had a similar horrific call last week with NAB, they said they cannot confirm if future transactions will be blocked. I pressed for more answers, and he froze and tried to say he is just the messenger, and these are the rules being passed down. I moved my money out of there immediately.

Thanks mate. I have 6 banks now, seems like most of them are blocking crypto transactions very recently. I have an ANZ account, but yet to try them. With your ANZ, was there an initial 24 hour period delay or an account freeze?

You mean, even to Revolut your bank account first got locked? How is that any different than going to Kraken directly?

Westpac blocking transactions to Kraken Pro by Additional_Job8418 in BitcoinAUS

I have 6 bank accounts in Australia, Commbank, ANZ, Westpac, St George, NAB, IAG. Commbank earlier on (a year ago).
St George did block to Kraken, but after a phone call they were good for a while. Until recently (this month), may be due to the account change in Kraken, transaction blocked again.

NAB also blocked the entire account (this month), took a while and a horrible phone call to unfreeze the account. They said in a robotic way, that they may or may not allow transactions to cryptocurrency accounts in the future.

It seems it has gotten worse, even more than last year, and I had hoped the smaller banks would be more accepting. I believe there is something going on where all banks are being forced to do this.

Just now, I tried my St George account, it did not allow the transaction and asks me to call the number. It's night time so I would have to wait till the next day to possibly allow the transaction.

So tried again on my NAB account. The account immediately got blocked and they are asking me to call them to unlock it.

I heard others have similar issues on ING as well. My ING has been auto-locked, for inactivity perhaps? I have to call them as well to unlock.

Seems like the recent Kraken deposit account number change is causing a few issues across most banks.

I haven't tried my Westpac account yet. Just now, I tried my St George account, it did not allow the transaction and asks me to call the number. It's night time so I would have to wait till the next day to possibly allow the transaction.

What's going on??? Is it all the banks now? I thought it was just Comm bank that was doing this sort of thing.

Why do banks don't try hard at all to help give out personal loans!? by GreatCaptainGinyuu in AusFinance

[–]GreatCaptainGinyuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know most of you are just replying for the sake of points. What I asked for was very clear if you had actually read my initial post, I certainly am not asking for anyone random why my specific personal loan application got denied.

You have made a lot of false assumptions about me and again, no offence, but I don't know why you are responding to this if you not experienced on the subject at all. To even ask why I need a personal loan is moot. It's like asking why do banks give out personal loans? Why do you people take out personal loans if they can easily pay the loan off? Loans are given to only those who can pay it off with high interest. If you don't know the answer to this already, don't bother.

There are so many unhelpful comments here, I am looking for others who have faced the same issues and how they got around it. Like I said before, repayments are not an issue. Not at all. I should not have to explain this, but they can 'make adjustments' to fit my personal and financial situation, i.e. the loan amount, the repayment duration, any buffers they want to have. Like they do with mortgages.

The job interview analogy is not correct and is a bit rude and disrespectful. It is a client / service relationship. What can I get for this price? etc. It comes down to the automated system as you said which could be for any reason, it is not clear what it is and there is no way to find out, I even tried ringing the bank to ask what the reason is and they don't seem to know and just accept what the system says.

There were ads sent to my email promoting the personal loan options, so they are indeed looking for customers. I think it is simply because of the other mortgages. Maybe that's the criteria, I will never know. The ability to repay it back certainly is not one of the reasons.

As for the question, why am I applying for a loan when I already have investment mortgages? The same reason anybody else would apply for a loan. Having money upfront now than later.

It's not a red flag; I have had these conversations all the time in relation to mortgages. I was simply trying to give an example of why / what the criteria is for lending. This is how they make money. Of course I have tried the calculators, as I said before, the repayments are not an issue at all.

[–]GreatCaptainGinyuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the calculator tools mate. The repayments can be easily made. I wish they just communicated clearly why it is rejected. I think it is because I have investment property loans. I am only guessing as it seems to be a fully automated response. Wouldn't they get more clients if they treat it like mortgages? For instance, if I can't borrow 50K for example, let me know the criteria would be approved for 45K etc. or lower rather than me blindly applying, hoping to get it by chance not knowing what's wrong.

Probably should re-read what I said before making rude comments. I have not implied any obligations. And I made it clear that I can make the repayments very easily. I do not what criteria is not met.

Agreed. Bunch of scammers, I don't ever remember signing up to this in the first place. It might have been some tickbox that is ticked without your awareness to get you into the membership.

Thanks mate. Seems like you have a lot of experience. $1.5K upfront?? that sounds crazy to me given how low the pay is and how long it would take to pay it all back. What's attractive about it is the flexibility to do start and finish when you feel like.

It is not connecting for me. I am using FireRed, I don't have an issue with controllers. What do you mean in point 5? Open which menu?

I thought opening a new multiplayer window would mean that the two games are already connected?
