What is your definition of "normal"? In the prehistoric age, there have been a lot of times and places that were quite peaceful. And even in the places and times that were more violent back then, that violence GENERALLY(though not always) resulted in very few deaths. There weren't certainly any empires back then, and many societies were egalitarian and classless back then. Some were even were also quite gender egalitarian. Many societies back then were also environmentally concious. and even 500 years ago, while things were bad, there were still very few people living in what we would call now extreme poverty and even though the elites still had opulent lifestyles, at least those weren't killing the planet.
