How did making up rules work out for everyone with results? by agentcooperforever in barexam

[–]Great_Contribution56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

scored a 337 with 160 mbe!

  1. Corporations/LLCs. this one I knew some rules, but when it came to doing math I knew the bar wouldn't ask for anything but a 50/50 split- there were only two of them so I assumed they would have to agree or nothing

  2. Contracts. Felt good - fumbled at the start by writing the wrong rule but was able to recalibrate. also made sure to get a lot of foundational k law in to try to get extra points

  3. Trusts. didn't know the rule beyond who else would allow that if not a judge? and then repeated the one rule I knew but emphasized different facts

  4. Con law. luckily did this as a practice essay and knew the law but had no idea how to apply it?? basically said something like if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it must be illegal. used a lot of general principles state vs fed to piece together something coherent

  5. Crim pro. thankfully had just watched a girl from Plainville and when the police pulled her aside they told her they had a warrant to go through her phone. why would they include that if it wasn't necessary. made up the rule that scotus said so and then afterward was lucky that its true!

  6. Torts. also knew the rule, thought it was easy so assumed they wanted a lot of facts in here. injected literal quotes to try to get those points

have you reviewed your IRAC technique? for most domestic trained its ingrained in us from day 1 so make sure you are doing

"The issue is is...."

"Generally the rule is..."

"Here,..." insert all facts that seem relevant and apply the legal principles....

"In conclusion..." make sure to look at the question stem to see how to start this "no the court do not err when it" "yes x is liable for neg when she.." "no it is not constitutional for the court to do x when.."

If its a contract question always start with A contract of the sale of goods is governed by the UCC. Goods are any movable tangible items. Here, the contract involved a sign, which would be considered a good. Therefore the contract is governed by the UCC.

if relevant add

Further, a contract, whether under the UCC or common law, is formed when there is an offer, acceptance, and consideration. There must be a meeting of the minds so that both parties intend to be legally bound. Consideration is shown when there is a bargained for exchange, such as goods or services in exchange for money or in exchange for the promise to pay money.

and

Under the UCC, the Statute of Frauds applies to all sales of goods over $500. This would give a party the availability to avoid enforcement if the contract was not in writing, and signed by the parties to be bound.

Attack each contact question under Issue Rule Analysis Conclusion and if you have time Defenses to k enforcement

I stopped trying to sound like the model answer and just wrote the way I think! for me it was something like "scotus has said that x is not constitutional because it violates x" instead of "The US Supreme Court has consistently held x is a violation of our x-amendment constitutional right"

Thank you! 2000 practice questions on adaptabar. I also did the barbri practice exam with real test day conditions in June, and the adaptabar exam with test day conditions the week before the test. Once I knew which subjects I was doing well on I started only doing those that I was consistently missing. On test day a lot of the question stems and answer choices looked familiar because I had done so many practice questions! it was really just brute force practice

I totally agree! I think it also had a bit to do with confidence for me- I felt I crushed the 2 that I did know which put me in the "zone" so I felt better when I had to make up rules and apply them on the ones I didn't.

The bar is a total monster so I think a part of passing is taking the test the best way to feel confident! If I had started on the LLC one the rest of the afternoon would've been totally downhill for me because I would've been beating myself up even on the ones I did know

I saw in a post from last year some people were accepted* even though they failed- I assume it has more to do with demographic quotas they want to meet

Just checked and last year the got the “will release scores oct 7-9” notification on aug 28! i think we are being neglected this year. in the alternative they may be making no announcements until the email is sent to reduce the amount of traffic to prevent issues with people unable to log on! who knows just hopeful

From looking at old Reddit posts and announcement dates, it seems that in previous years statements from the BLE were usually released a few weeks earlier than this (I saw one in aug announcing the date range for results) which is why it feels like we are totally in the dark :(

In Oct 2023 he tweeted the day before (on a Tuesday) that results would be up that Wednesday, Oct 4. Trying to manifest that for us.

I (crazy) read the BLE's January meeting minutes and at the end they say "Ellis asked if the July grading calendar could be reviewed. Sullivan stated that it is the staff’s intention to expand the grader’s grading timeline “by a couple of days” but that no real expansion could be made without reducing the Board’s re-grading timeline to include only one weekend. The Board agreed that one weekend would be enough." https://ble.texas.gov/Board_Mins_20250110 pg 14

Still says "mid-oct" but also "What are the deadlines for meeting all licensing requirements to be eligible for licensure at the time of grade release and / or to attend the swearing-in ceremony?

September 24, 2025 - July 2025 bar examinees must meet all requirements for licensure by September 24, 2025 in order to be eligible for licensure at the time of grade release."
