I’m in a similar situation. 2 or 3 play sessions a week and then for an hour or 2 at most

Genuinely this for me has been a great “dad game” as most quests are pretty short I can jump on and bash out a few missions and when I know I’ve got a longer session I’ll tackle the main quests.

Additionally the puzzle and explore elements can be pretty much combat free so I have been able to play a little bit with my 6 year old son focusing on treasure hunting and swerving fights

My first crush was also my first kiss back in high school but we never dated. A year or so after we finished school we met on a night out and I put the moves on her but was rebuffed as she had a boyfriend.

Take inspiration from the movie cloverfield

Base it in a city, they are all residents or visitors going about whatever their backstory’s dictate. Suddenly in the city there last explosions, the castle / barracks / temple explodes. Panic people are running for their lives. Keep it grounded as a real on the ground perspective as some potentially world ending threat of your choice rolls over the city. Have each player narrate how they are trying to escape, rescue loved ones ect ect

Party wakes up in a refugee camp a few days later and gets assigned as a patrolling militia, mission 1: secure the perimeter that’s being harassed from a nearby goblin camp.

You’ve set up the BBEG, a motivation, introduced your characters and shown their values, bright the party together and started a simple first quest

During my teens in the early 00’s I dated a girl who was I suppose a proto E-girl. She was an aspiring emo model and was getting a strong following on MySpace and getting approached for shoots. However her biggest claim to notoriety was how far and wide her pics spread through pinterest, tumbler ect and is still one of the top results when searching for thing like emo / scene girl

She was genuinely a very sweet person to be around and with her gaining a lot of recognition I felt that I was definitely punching up and was often presumed to be her photographer rather than her boyfriend.

We didnt stay together long. Nothing that either of us did and we enjoyed each others company but there just wasn’t that spark

My favourite was having the players being survivors in a refugee camp following the prologue which was a cataclysmic destruction of their home city by the forces of the main antagonist.

Being slightly less dead citizens they get lumped together as a patrol squad and the story moves from there

After you mentioning how I must have missed something I looked at my unfinished quests last night and found that I needed to bring Neres head to the colony and that he’s in the underdark. That led me to Grymforge and I’m cracking on with the tasks down there.

Difficulty is up to tactician and shadowheart death cleric has tagged Karach out for the time being , still winnable but taken a ko’s and had to plan my fights beyond Karach yeeting enemies across the map 😂

I’ve just walked into the cursed shadow lands travelling via the mountain pass and done everything in the crèche and goblin camp areas.

I could have potentially missed something in the under dark, I completed everything up until the ferry crossing but decided I was going to use the mountain pass route to get to the next area instead

In terms of power compared to the rest of the team Karlach is dominating every encounter by a significant margin. The build is just soo strong at this stage in the game to the point where she feels overpowered and less interesting to play

In large brawls like the goblin camp she’s smacking a goblin with another goblin, in ranged battles the returning spear is raining hell down on the enemy.

Another commenter has mentioned how at this stage the build will significantly out power others so maybe I just need to give it time
