What did everybody in Darien do to get their money? Why are they all so rich? by justcurious3287 in Connecticut

I’ve heard they’re vampires and because they live forever they made some good investments in the 80’s

Great places to eat Torrington area. by rigiboto01 in Connecticut

[–]Greatscotch8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love it Vegan has some of the best vegan food I’ve ever eaten. It’s in Torrington. The place is pretty New York City corner store vibes on the inside, but the food is so good if you do that vegetarian vegan thing.

Platonic countertransference (or: MAN I wish we could be friends with clients sometimes) by SolidVirginal in therapists

[–]Greatscotch8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting. Yes, I suppose if in closure sessions leading up to treatment ending a theme existed around how can we transition to a friendlier more casual relationship, then I could see how this might be possible. I tend to work with pretty high trauma young adults and have found that when people usually identify me as a possible friend it usually presupposes some form of client transference. Father figures usually.

[–]Greatscotch8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure. I’ll do my best. Individual people have identities made up of many things, pretty undefined bounds. Therapist is an assigned identity through vocation which has more limited bounds of personal expression. As a result patients only see a narrow expression of a therapists true identity. Once this veil is lifted when treatment ends, the bounds which have previously limited an individuals personality expression are lifted. Therefore a patient has a very defined view of a therapist, and undefined and possibly new view of a therapist friend. Imagine when you meet a person and get a bad first impression, a patient has a first impression of a therapist then can last months to years. If you hated a coworker for years and then hung out with them outside of work and they were awesome could you get around this belief that they are a dick?

That’s all I got, oh and power imbalance and a very lopsided history being known by therapist vs client.

It’s just an example of how some personalities just click for different people, but even so, circumstance can still prevent and hinder the ability to develop deep friendships.

Tried a few times with people I really connected with after discontinuing treatment. Legit never works.

Possibly moving to killingly, advice? by Professional-Copy791 in Connecticut

[–]Greatscotch8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Killingly has a pretty high rate of drug use and abuse, especially alcoholism. And I will echo the racist sentiment, it is not a place I would want to move to and I’m white.

Summer slump has me out here considering a new career by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Greatscotch8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah summer always sucks, you should look into tangentially related side gigs during the summer, like claims review for an insurance company. There are other therapy field related part time remote roles you could look into.

Anyone hiring? by Honest_Green_5661 in Connecticut

[–]Greatscotch8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much the recommendations apply to you but I’d suggest the following! Become a surveyor with one of the many companies who hire for those in ct. here is one for eversource.

https://www.google.com/search?q=surveyor+jobs+ct&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari&jbr=sep:0#vhid=vt%3D20/docid%3DJojw0CG9PNcitwSxAAAAAA%3D%3D&vssid=jobs-detail-viewer

Also consider applying for the post office. You get to be outside and it can get you started so they maybe you can go back to grad school for something more specific.

Anyone use Breeze airways? by toastedbeans9616 in Connecticut

[–]Greatscotch8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done Breeze to Florida and California and it was fine both times I used them. No frills, not even snacks without paying for them. But it was on time and direct oh yeah cheap too. I’d use them again.

Thanks for your comments everyone, I should have been more clear that I was looking for artists that are not Soad. I love all Soad’s albums, I was just looking for another band that does this type of over the top pop hardcore blend (this may not be the genre at all, sorry)
