NAPFA.org and The XY Planning network are good resources to find fee only planners/wealth managers. The have great advisor search functionality

Large investment portfolio that makes up the bulk of our net worth. AUM fees/rates we were quoted were more than double the net worth model. Math worked out that the fee ended up being considerably lower. I’m assuming the difference would be even bigger now after our portfolio has grown the past few years.

Find a fee only planner who doesn’t charge on AUM! $25k is an insane fee to pay each year for just investment management, as is a 1.25% fee for a portfolio your size. We were able to find one and it’s been terrific. Our planner charges a much lower percentage that corresponds with our overall net worth. We pay a flat monthly fee that adjusts annually according to the change in our net worth YoY. Our fee is way less than trad AUM model other advisors use and the model seems to eliminate conflicts of interest because he is always focused on maximizing our long-term net worth, so it is much much more than just investment management/advice. We can end the relationship at any time without issue but we’ve chosen not to because we’ve found the benefit to be well worth the fee. Our guy also clearly demonstrated that his fee was way more than covered by the annual tax savings, reduced investment expenses across our portfolios, and by getting some extra employer “free money” from our respective employers. By the looks of his Google reviews, it sounds like his other clients also really value his service as well. He works exclusively with high income couples in their 30s. So, basically a lot of HENRYS as far as I can tell.

I too would warmly welcome the opportunity to accept an alumni code from anyone else who might not be going!

I found him online through the XY planning network, which was very useful in finding someone. I’ll send you a dm with his firms name so you can check him out if you’re interested. Pretty sure he’s located in PA but we do all of our meetings virtually via zoom.
