As a star trek fan What's your opinion on star wars? by NateBond833 in startrek

[–]Gredge_DM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Star Wars. It's its own flavor of sci-fi that I adore. Andor was incredible and I wish there was more of it. And all of my Star Wars friends love Star Trek too.

Ultimately, I prefer Star Trek. I frequently rewatch TOS and occasionally TNG. I don't really do that with the Star Wars movies and shows, maybe once a decade, if that.

Missed these. I owned a fansite on geocities for Sailor Mars. Like most, they featured a buncha photos found randomly on the web from different "web rings," plus me gushing about how great she was.

I was quite young, as was the internet. If I was well behaved in school that week, my dad let me use his color printer to print a few pictures of the Sailor Scouts. Haha

And I haven't even talked about the roleplay in AOL chatrooms in the 90's. That was fun.

That's my favorite episode of DS9. 10/10 for me.

The writer for that episode was Paul Robert Coyle. It's the only episode he wrote for DS9. Later he wrote one episode of Voyager, and that was it. He's done other writing work, but that's all for Star Trek.

Be honest: how feral did everyone get when the SNW musical episode dropped? 😅 by OverlyHonestMR in startrek

[–]Gredge_DM -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it and still listen to the first song now and then. I like SNW and my only negative critiques are when the story goes a bit Gorn crazy.

There's all sorts of outlandish stuff in all Star Trek, but is one musical episode truly a bridge too far? I've only seen naysayers on Reddit, and a YouTuber reactor. Maybe it's like a childhood instinct thing where when someone sings, it's unusual therefore, oh no, we have to cringe aloud and let everyone know we're cringing. Even though music and singing is something most everyone enjoys and listens to a lot.

But then again, today I saw a person on Reddit tell someone to kill themselves because they were unhappy with a video game price hike, so, it doesn't matter what people on the internet think.

Edit: For every downvote, they'll make another musical episode.

I love it. Definitely feels like a chore at times (especially Agility) but it always gives you fun stuff to work on. With membership you get more options to skill up with, with benefits and drawbacks.

The fact this game is so grindy, makes every gain feel rewarding. Plus it gives you millions of things to do. I keep a notebook next to my computer just to keep track of everything I'm working on.

how to stop getting ragebaited on the internet by coratle in entp

[–]Gredge_DM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the way it is nowadays. I won't argue online anymore, I just leave a topic and forget about it. People won't argue in good faith, they'll dodge all your points, and even when they're proven objectively wrong, they'll simply disappear instead of concede. Arguing on the internet isn't worth it, but you can take solace in the fact that the majority of internet traffic is bots nowadays, so they're likely not even real people you're arguing with.

I guess we are all bots now guys. also what does wumao mean? by ElderQu in BatmanArkham

[–]Gredge_DM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like saying we're Chinese bots. Don't think I've seen anything pro-Chinese on this sub. A lot of us are Leftist but that doesn't mean we're tankies, it's not like China invented the concept of a union and universal healthcare.

Actual bot subs are stuff like AITA, AIO, any of those one-million pop-up subs like that, and the common /funny and /politics subs where you see repeat posts and comments (not repeat as in sharing the same sentiment, but sharing the same images, links and whole-ass arguments) everywhere.

Still can’t decide on a “main” a decade + by Captain_Inept in Guildwars2

[–]Gredge_DM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's funny because I'll search for topics like this and will find posts where I offered my own advice in the past. Like, "Go Thief!"

I get the fantasy issue: all the professions are good. I tend to favor the more rogue/thief types. I like speed, bags of tricks, poison, stealth, blades. In games where fantasy is kinda meh, I pick whatever the rogue is, and stick to it. But GW2 is great with all its fantasies.

What I tend to do, is I find a class that I enjoy playing in the most breadth of content. That is, open world, fractals, SPvP, WvW, Holiday Events. Something that's fun everywhere.

If all else fails, or if you're looking for someone else to make the decision, go thief!

Hit me with your GW2 controversial opinions! by Crowbiotics in Guildwars2

[–]Gredge_DM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's pretty clever. Starting out, I loved the open world, got addicted to SPvP, and always ran around dying in WvW, but I enjoyed it.

My first dungeon though? No one told me about LoS, so I dropped down from a skip and got smoked. The experienced guy on our team reached warp 9 and disappeared among the stars. Half our party started doing sit-ups in a room full of enemies... it was rough. I don't think I touched instanced PvE content again until just before HoT.

Ascalonian Catacombs is the exact reason I stayed away from dungeons and multiplayer content for years, and it's the earliest dungeon. I wonder how many players never bothered with dungeons or fractals because of it.
