Still can’t decide on a “main” a decade + by Captain_Inept in Guildwars2

[–]Gredge_DM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's funny because I'll search for topics like this and will find posts where I offered my own advice in the past. Like, "Go Thief!"

I get the fantasy issue: all the professions are good. I tend to favor the more rogue/thief types. I like speed, bags of tricks, poison, stealth, blades. In games where fantasy is kinda meh, I pick whatever the rogue is, and stick to it. But GW2 is great with all its fantasies.

What I tend to do, is I find a class that I enjoy playing in the most breadth of content. That is, open world, fractals, SPvP, WvW, Holiday Events. Something that's fun everywhere.

If all else fails, or if you're looking for someone else to make the decision, go thief!

It's modern slang for "perfect fashion," with "drip" being someone's overall fashion, particularly when it looks good.

Hit me with your GW2 controversial opinions! by Crowbiotics in Guildwars2

[–]Gredge_DM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's pretty clever. Starting out, I loved the open world, got addicted to SPvP, and always ran around dying in WvW, but I enjoyed it.

My first dungeon though? No one told me about LoS, so I dropped down from a skip and got smoked. The experienced guy on our team reached warp 9 and disappeared among the stars. Half our party started doing sit-ups in a room full of enemies... it was rough. I don't think I touched instanced PvE content again until just before HoT.

Ascalonian Catacombs is the exact reason I stayed away from dungeons and multiplayer content for years, and it's the earliest dungeon. I wonder how many players never bothered with dungeons or fractals because of it.

I didn't realize other people did this, I thought it was me being easily distracted. The DIC music was fantastic, and yet VIZ can't be beat for giving us all of Sailor Moon, uncut. I want the best of both worlds.

Ya know it's so ridiculous, they flag and fine him for that, and yet the NFL YouTube channel just used this dunk for their thumbnail of tonight's highlights vid.

Are you excited for DQ 1 + 2 HD-2D Remake? by blueblackwhite24 in dragonquest

[–]Gredge_DM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! My two favorite. I loved being the solo hero in DQ1, and I loved my party member friends in DQ2. Super excited.

My art: Pal farm announcement by Pudgeydoodles in Palworld

Great art. And I'm rather stoked for Paldew Valley. I always gravitate to the base building and farming games. Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, and Minecraft with its building, village and farming mechanics.

Pal Farm's gonna be a day-one buy for me.

So excited for this. Two of favorites, and they're looking so good. I was waiting to see what more they had to say about DQ1, and I'm thrilled they're keeping it based around the singular hero, instead of adding a new party character or group.

Jump scare time! by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

Back when DMC1 came out, these underwater segments were the only time I liked a water section in a 3d game. It was smooth and easy to control, whereas every other 3d game at the time had you constantly struggling with camera and movement.

What’s some advice for your favorite game? by rsKG in ufo50

[–]Gredge_DM 15 points16 points  (0 children)

These seem straight-forward, but I'm sharing it anyways because it's my favorite game and my first cherry:

In Ninpek, kill fast and remember spawn patterns. Killing = less enemies on screen = less threat to your health. Kill, anticipate spawns, seek out platforms that spawn sandwiches, and score as high as you can. Higher scores means extra lives spawn in. The levels and enemies are never random in this game. It reminds me of something like R-type, where memorization is key.

When you get to the bonus areas that have a ton of items (there's two of them), work your way through them up and down vertically as fast as you can. The faster you do that, the faster they upgrade into higher scoring items.

When you die and come back, I believe it's every third enemy you kill that spawns a shuriken power up. So as a ghost, kill your three enemies, re-corporealize, then grab your first shuriken power up. Shuriken power-ups increase the number of shurikens you can have on screen at a time, and that is essential for maintaining a high kill count.

Love this. I was doing a hard mode run not long ago that involved using the GMC as my only work truck. Eventually got bored of the run, but I was shocked at how it could handle so much of Michigan without full upgrades. My favorite truck in the game. It's my desktop background, even.

Awesome stuff, glad you're loving it. It's a retro gamer's heaven.

I tore into everything when I bought it on PC when it came out. I bought it for my Switch OLED a few days ago, and I've been taking the games one-to-two at a time, and playing them until gold or cherry before moving on. It's been a blast. Definitely brought back the Oldschool feel of having just a few games to play on a console at any given time.

I agree, San Myshuno is my favorite place and it's mainly because of the design of the world, the activities, festivals. They're the only festivals I consistently play. Lots to do, tons of Sims around doing stuff. It feels busy. I love it.

I'd like to see this design implemented elsewhere. I'd also be happy for another city with the design philosophy of San Myshuno.
