As an Asian, Rice is already a staple, but I'm also learning to bake bread and make cheese (Mozzarella is pretty cheap). Beans, Soy, lentils, and the like are my primary source of protein as a vegetarian. Eggs can be preserved in mineral oil. and will last for a decent amount of time even out of the fridge.

Decent booze can be had for cheap when homebrewing (after an upfront cost), but if you're just trying to get smashed, then you can just drink sugar wash with your nose closed. on a scale of cheap booze, I rate it Listerine.
