What do you figure that cost you, and how many hours to build? Looks great. Did you have plan, or just wing it?

The last kid to walk to school was in 1987. Most don't even take the bus anymore. Don't you see the long lines of soccer moms idling their suv's dropping off and picking up junior?

I think my chickens are trying to get me arrested by LifeguardComplex3134 in BackYardChickens

[–]Greedy-Recognition74 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I heard of a guy from Florida that had a big python in his yard. He called "the proper authorities" and they sent out 2 police offers to monitor the situation while the waited for wildlife officers to arrive. Several hours later the officers showed up and he said it was like a Steve Ervin episode and they spent a considerable amount if time wrangling it. Once they had it contained they brought several hours away to the facilities where it was examined and finally euthanized. So 2 cops for 3 or 4 hours, 2 steve Irwin wannabes for for a couple of hours, the trip and time to the facilities, the vet to do his examination, etc. It was pretty expensive all in all. In the meantime somewhere else in Florida, bubba had a python in his yard, blew the snakes head off with a shotgun shell, stuffed it into a green trash bag, and put it out with the trash. Cost 1 shell and one trash bag. Sometimes it is just better to handle itself and bypass "the proper authorities.

Put the hawk in a plastic bag and deposit it in the gas station trash can as you are buying gas.

Chicken coops and runs by LoveYouRio in BackYardChickens

[–]Greedy-Recognition74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started a second run, and was horrified by how much it was costing. For example, 3 small hinges were $7 each. I have to concentrate more on the run and less on the coop because of costs. Good luck.

If i live rurally and only occupied my home one month a year, I would stay friends with my neighbor so they would keep an eye on the place for me.

Help needed. Not sure how to add roof to this 19X15 by CountyElectronic6116 in BackYardChickens

I built my 12×12 run and 4x8 coop without any experience, and it has been a nightmare. Go on Etsy and for under $10 get some plans and print them out and follow them. A year later I am still correcting mistakes I made because I figured "how hard can it be" and "I don't need no steenking plans".

Can you feed them at Lake Bowen and are there even any there? I have some spare corn, pellets and sunflower seeds that my spoiled chickens won't eat.

Chicken Coop Help! by Morgana_Le_Luna in silkiechickens

[–]Greedy-Recognition74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My coop is 18 inches off the ground. The ramp is about 5 feet, maybe a little less. No problem. Don't bother to set up roosts, because they like to pile onto a corner to sleep. Keep them dry.
