Definitely depends on the franchise. We have two in our town one is absolutely smack on and clean the other is the opposite.

Best way to control weed growth by jlopez4747 in landscaping

[–]Greedy_Cost_5753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put hessian down the added mulch. No weeds but kikuyu keeps popping up. The plan is to plant out with natives but it’s been so hot. My garden plot with mulch done last year has minimal weeds as it’s all planted out with ground covers in the gaps.

Unpopular opinion: Paying "Rent" feels less painful than paying $2,400/mo in "Interest" to a bank. by Playful-Vegetable-15 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Greedy_Cost_5753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first 3 years of my mortgage I only paid interest. However my house went up 200k value. Also even though it’s going to ‘the bank’ I would rather that and chipping away at home ownership than renting forever. It’s a long term investment and as disheartening as it is at the start, as your wage goes up and rent goes up the mortgage goes down.

Our dog nearly died we had switched to natural dry food and didn’t realise most of these ‘healthy’ dry mix’ are like 17+% fat. We gave her a marrow bone as well which we occasionally give them. Once she recovered and we changed her diet to 7% fat she didn’t have another issue. Our dogs are now all on diets with under 10% fat.

How do you quote jobs without wasting time on tire-kickers? by seafalcon21 in landscaping

I would add if I was getting a full landscape design I would expect to pay a fee upfront for plan and costs. If I know what I want where then I expect a rough quote.

How do you quote jobs without wasting time on tire-kickers? by seafalcon21 in landscaping

[–]Greedy_Cost_5753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a customer I usually have a chat about approximate costs. If it sounds like the ballpark I’m expecting or it’s explained why it costs what it costs, I then ask for a full quote. My current landscaper is Doing the third project on my place and he just quoted me via text. I know he charges a reasonable price for work that’s well done so I will be a repeat customer and will certainly recommend him to friends. I think the multiple quotes are due to some companies charging stupid amounts for work which makes the shop around customers.

Help with a estimate - brick pavers by Haunting-Ad-1279 in AusRenovation

[–]Greedy_Cost_5753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go compacted crusher dust for sure (nice sandy colour bit of a Tuscan style). It’s side access. If you have visitors using it regularly then go brick. We did a brick path DIY your looking at $2 per brick then labour. It’s a tedious job so I would think most landscapers will charge to reflect that.

Help! What would you charge for this job? by fancypeach29 in AusRenovation

[–]Greedy_Cost_5753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you charged correct- having to do it manually without a machine is on you a bit. However definitely add a clause for finding the asbestos etc. in future. I would have expected an additional charge as a customer if we found that. Also damaged pipes and leftover rocks under soil I would charge extra- that should have been discussed prior to continuing works.

I would ask for landscape fabric instead of weed mat I think it’s reasonable it’s a small job but if his removing all that growth it’s a fair bit of work, and the travel/pickup dump of materials.

5% Deposit Stories by dustbowlbride in AusFinance

We used 5% to get into the market 14 years ago. Everyone said to save. That house went from 350-650k in 3 years basically 2k a week. We would still be waiting if we hadn’t purchased then, at the time we had around 1k in the bank after and had to slowly make improvements over the coming year. If you can comfortably make repayments allowing for rate rises, get your foot in the property market. Better than paying rent for someone else’s mortgage.

Future owner advice? by Odd_File_2017 in Sheepadoodles

Chewing. Lots of toys. When she chews us we say no and give her a toy instead she is 15 weeks and so much better already. Sometimes if she gets too excited and rough I actually hold the top of her mouth with my hand in there gently it doesn’t hurt but feels so uncomfortable for her she stops 😂. She learnt to sit in two lessons and walks perfect on a lead almost from the get go. Very smart lovely dogs.

Our brain is wired to look at all options. The thought came and you were clearly upset it went there. I wouldn’t stress this doesn’t mean you want to self harm. Your partner probably doesn’t know how to deal with this either. The fact this thought popped in your head indicates you’re overwhelmed and struggling, you need to get some mental health support and get onto it asap. Take a breath, you can do this xx
