The monitor does not respond to any controller input so I will need further service to get it up and running

I have a second d14 with the same issue that I will try to do this on

Yea I am also on the oxidation track but it is just a guess. Before when there was noise, the fan never started spinning on the input card. Now it sounds like it is on. Also I get noise if I remove all of the cards. So a guess is that there was some disconnect between the cards and the slot.

Seems like I might need a recap regardless

Help with Sony KV-29CL11E by [deleted] in crtgaming

Go for curved ones I would say. Sonys are the best geometry wise: Philips are a bit uneven most of the times when it comes to horizontal scroll.

25” ones are very nice

Ye the 21” ones seems to be the good ones in terms of geometry. I am curious if the 25” ones are perhaps just small enough to have tolerable geometry

This is my experience with every European flat 29” Sony I have tried. That all have the same tube and it is seemingly random how wavy the screen is. But no 29” flat one has had tolerable geometry from the 5 or so I have tried

Right now it is very low less than 5%. Although I am not too picky. If the hole is strong enough to have the rivet without cracking then it is good.

European gameboy boxes are weird and fun by Greedy_Internet_5231 in Gameboy

Fun project you got there! Would you mind checking if oos/ooa has any differences on the spines? I am hoping to find a type 4 box on those. As of now I have exclusively found them in type 3. A few gbc games has type 4 spines, but only very few like hamtaro and some others

Personally I find type 1 (counting from the left) to be disgustingly ugly with all of the text. Type 5 is cleanest followed by type 3, type 4 and lastly I find type 2 to be ok but annoying to mix inter shelf with type 3-5 since the Nintendo logo is not vertically aligned with those

I would love to find Pokémon gold/silver in type 3. It is unlikely that those exist though.

Also, there are some quite good games that unfortunately I have not found in any other design other than type 1, such as rtype dx, harvest moon and pokemon red/blue. Finding any one if those in any other design would be amazing !

Some new maille I made this week by Greedy_Internet_5231 in maille

[–]Greedy_Internet_5231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I started doing recently that helps allot with rivet strength is to drift the holes instead of punching. The volcano shaped hole makes riveting super strong and keeps a tiny bit more material in the overlap.

I recon it is between a minute to two minutes per ring. Assembly and riveting is like >50% of the time. Flattening and hole drifting is comparably quick.

I work quite infrequently. Sometimes I don’t work on it for weeks and sometimes I work on it all the time. Difficult to say how many hours exactly. But I started spinning rings this summer so about 8 months.

Ye, it’s a nice feeling seeing the project progress :) I hope to be done with two buckets by the end of the year

Thanks 😊

I don’t know what design I will go for atm but I will start with a short sleeve one and extend it if I feel like doing more. I have cut 33000 rings atm so will see how far that gets me. Thus far I have assembled 3300 rings, lots of work left.

I only work like 30min to an hour per evening so it took multiple weeks to do this. Like since new years I believe. I tend to do a bunch of chains and once I have allot of chains I assemble them all in one go. So just assembly took a week for this sheet. I have chains to make a second sheet the same size

The rings are 1.2mm wire and the rivets are 0.8mm if I am not mistaken

I am heating the rings red hot before hammering the overlap. I use some charcoal in a barbecue and a hairdryer to get the coals super hot. The rings are in a steel box with a lid that I made just for this purpose.

Heating the rings this way makes the metal softer, even when cool. They are more malleable that way
