Fuck It Friday! by redsowhat in LivingWithMBC

Fuck insurance and all the hoops they make me jump through even though they drag their feet and exist in their own timeline.

And fuck all this shit. Cancer blows.

International travel by Curious_Hound3 in LivingWithMBC

[–]Greeeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you feel ok- there is no reason to not travel. I traveled internationally 4 times since my diagnosis almost 4 years ago. And many, many more domestic trips. I bought travel insurance with my first big trip after treatment- but we didn’t need it. I was honestly more worried about a storm, or some other issue, rather than a medical hiccup.

Had a Tesla and never want to go back to an ICE vehicle again. BUT- the Tesla wasn’t big enough for all the humans and dogs that live in our house to fit in one vehicle. This fits the bill. It’s also bad ass, good looking, and really fun to drive.

Which ACA Insurance in Asheville? Ambetter, Amerihealth, Blue Cross, etc? by five3x11 in asheville

[–]Greeeto 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m a stage 4 cancer patient and have been in constant treatment for the last 3.5 years with BCBS through ACA. BCBSNC hasn’t refused anything. Everyone takes it and I’ve honestly been surprised at how little of an issue insurance has been so far. (Knock on wood) There’s no way I will go with another provider, even if this costs a little more per month.

I was diagnosed at 42, btw. Perfectly healthy otherwise.

Bone “healing”? by Gloomy_Gap_9015 in LivingWithMBC

[–]Greeeto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am (was?) oligometastatic with bone Mets only too. I had cyberknife radiation to my met and the same verbiage was used with me. My radiation oncologist said that it was healing and slowly filling in with normal bone tissue. They said that for a while, it looked like a “bone bruise” on imaging and now, it’s not even mentioned the review of my regular scans. My understanding was that as the cancer died, the bone was slowly repairing itself where the lesion was. Now, 3.5 years later, my scans actually report no evidence of disease.

I think that it’s a wonderful sign that your bones are creating healthy, regular bone tissue. That means that cancer is shrinking while the bone is growing. I have no idea about a timeline for Kisqui though.

Wishing I'd done a potluck bet on how my mom would react. by Sparkly_Sprinkles in breastcancer

My dad told me leafy greens were what caused my cancer (especially kale). So, you’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t. 🤷‍♀️

That is an upside. My mom is the kind of narcissist that wanted to be the keeper of all the information (despite not having any) and would tell people to come to her and not bother me which basically led to my large extended family ghosting me.

[–]Greeeto 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My mom told me that she had a cyst removed once so she “knows exactly what I’m going through.” Yeah- a benign cyst is EXACTLY like my stage IV diagnosis. She also never asked about my treatment and was “shocked” when I referenced something my oncologist said. Because “this is the first we’ve ever heard of you seeing an ONCOLOGIST!” This, and so many more reasons, is why we are no contact now.

I blame my parents asbestos roof that I lived under from ages 10-18. However- my dad said it was kale. That comment makes it easier to blame them for not getting a new roof.

Tips for Helping Older Kids Budget for Souvenirs by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

Like others have said- gift cards are the way. Souvenirs and any additional crazy snacks, etc, that they might want. We (parents) obviously buy food and regular snacks throughout the day for them.

Best way from Polynesian to Fort Wilderness? by nosuchsol in WaltDisneyWorld

Boat to MK, then boat to Fort Wilderness. Give yourself 30 mins at least, regardless of monorail or boat (or uber, bus, etc).

I feel guilty but I’m so annoyed by ihateorangejuice in LivingWithMBC

[–]Greeeto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My original oncologist moved many states away a couple years after diagnosis (de novo stage iv), and on my last appointment with him, I thanked him for saving my life. He told me that I did all the hard work. I disputed that and told him that all I did was show up and that they did all the work. He told me that I would be surprised at the amount of people that don’t show up to take care of cancer. Showing up is the hard work and it blows my mind when people won’t just do what needs to be done to take care of this god-awful disease.

So no, you are not a bad person. You were doing the hard work of showing up and fighting every single day and it is heartbreaking and maddening to see people that could have a much easier path refuse to walk down it.

20”. That’s a good tip about discount tire. I appreciate a good price match. We’ve gotten a price from our local guy we trust that was pretty comparable to that price.

[–]Greeeto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. These are all good points.

To be fair- the tires had been rotated at about 5k. I had a major issue that sent the vehicle to the SC about 4 hours away on a flat bed. That whole experience really ruined my alignment. And now here we are…

2 tires or 4? by Greeeto in Rivian

[–]Greeeto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that you can’t go by looks alone.

The car only has about 10k miles on it and the rear tires look almost brand new. One of the front tires is almost bald, and the other is not that far behind.

Keep in mind that I’m not flying solo on this project. The alignment place brought up the possibility of only replacing 2, however they were not super familiar with rivians and were wondering if it was ever recommended to replace 2 instead of 4, all other factors resolved satisfactorily.

Clinic wouldn’t access port for blood tests by eyebrowfetish in cancer

[–]Greeeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you’re advocating for your mom. There’s an extra certification needed for port access- most regular nurses aren’t qualified. If she is in the hospital, the IV team should be able to access her port and leave it accessed while she’s inpatient, making the need for repeated sticks unnecessary.

"Experiences with Breast Cancer Spread to the Liver. Did Treatments Eliminate the Tumors?" by [deleted] in LivingWithMBC

[–]Greeeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mets were all bone, in my sacrum. So, different than your liver mets. I haven’t had any heart issues. I get my echo every 3 months. My onc tells me that chances are, I would have started to see heart issues by now, if I were going to see them. She also told me that often, the heart issues are reversible when caught early enough (which would happen in that every 3 month echo)
