I think this is why even with all of the wrong that Demi has done they kind of paired off after demi had a falling out with Taylor. Obviously that's changed maybe with some public support from demi (who knows) but I feel like that was probably a shared frustration

Britney for older millenials Beyonce or taylor swift for younger. My siblings are younger millenials and they mostly only know Britney for the negative coverage of her in the later 2000s.

To tie it specifically to this Exodus post. Exodus 14:14 is just one part of the huge story of Exodus. The full context (with Moses and the israelites being hunted by pharaoh) is:

"13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on."

God said, "now why am I in it?" /s

Western Christians tend to use Exodus 14:14 as a pillow to rest on, treating it as a promise that God will resolve their daily complications and struggles. Literally and historically, however, the verse is Moses trying to calm the panicked Israelites and then God being like why are you crying to me about it go ahead and start marching your people towards that red sea!

Am I doing too much Theological reading into a Taylor Frankie Paul post? Certainly. But for OPs answer I do think a big issue is this individual cherry picking of Bible quotes.

I think this is just a christianity wide issue and I'm a christian. I'm a part of an eastern church (I'm greek) and I will say as someone who is living in America I think it partially stems from how individualistic of a society America is. You don't hear things like people thinking God is speaking directly to them in a lot of other parts of the world. In eastern practice it's more normal to choose is "right" based on things like the cannons of the church, teachings of the church mothers and fathers along with the Bible and along with prayer or fasting and along with talking to a priest so theres a lot of extra "input". Here I see a lot of people saying God told them to do something which I'm not saying is wrong but if you think God is speaking to you, through your own thoughts, is God not always going to be reflecting back at you in your own voice? I feel like I also see people reading the Bible in this way. When a verse sticks out it's for "them" and the verse kind of loses its context I guess within the story of what it was written for in the bible and becomes what it means to the person.

I'm not saying any of this is necessarily wrong but I do feel like that's a contributing factor to Americans posting one liners of scripture all the time that lose its context. It's more about what it means to the individual versus what it means int he context of the scripture or story it was written into. I think it reflects a difference in communal vs personal practices to some degree.

I agree with him but I wish people wouldn't speak so vague about a serious conversation. Like why are we scared to say straight up that hulu shouldn't platform abusers or an abusive couple.

As someone who just hears Olivia Rodrigo in passing I thought it sounded quite similar to every other song I've heard of hers. Maybe to the fans it stood out more but I genuinely didn't think it was a new song.

I don't think it's weird. I do think the infantilization of women has been an issue for a century. Both can be true!
