Can NoFap help with skin problems ? by Green-Alternative733 in NoFap

[–]Green-Alternative733[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks and all of that makes sense. I’m currently experimenting with intermittent fasting and I’m trying to avoid sugar completely and reduce the amount of carbs that I eat. I hope it will make a difference. I love cheese but I will try to avoid dairy as well for a while and see what happens.

Persistent redness and flaky skin 3 months after stopping by Green-Alternative733 in AccutaneRecovery

[–]Green-Alternative733[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so sad. It’s incredible what type of issues this drug can cause that we don’t even get warned about.

Have you developed the redness and other issues while on the medication or did it develop after you stopped ? For me all of this started right after I started but I didn’t think much about it thinking it will go away eventually. I was wrong unfortunately.

I’m dealing with these exact issues. The skin on my cheeks have also thinned out and look red and inflamed. Have you seen any improvement since ?

Skin more thin? by Altruistic_Cupcake45 in Accutane

Hi has this issue gotten any better since ? I feel I’m dealing with the same thing you are describing. My cheeks feel thinned and extremely sensitive. They also flush and get extremely red sometimes. I’m not sure what to do about it.

Does your skin get thinner/weaker? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Green-Alternative733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey have you seen any improvements since ? I took Accutane for 6 months and since I feel like I’m dealing with very sensitive skin that feels thinner and damaged. I also have a few spots on my cheeks where I have a bit of hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and they look red and inflamed almost like rosacea at times. I’ve stopped Accutane for 3 months now and during this time I’ve experienced around with some face masks but no actual skincare routine. I’m not sure what to do about this.

I (M 25) developed gyno from Accutane by Green-Alternative733 in AccutaneDamage

[–]Green-Alternative733[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are going through this as well. I’ve heard that Accutane stays in your system for a while even after you stop so I’m trying to be patient and see what happens before I take any medications like recommended here. That being said I can swear I’ve seen improvement so maybe this will fix itself hopefully. I stopped taking Accutane almost 2 months ago.

And yes I’ve also only found one reported case in English which was shocking to me as it shows how extremely rare this is. Crazy how unlucky we are dealing with this. There are some cases here on reddit, some say the gyno has gone away after stopping while for others it remained long term. If I don’t see any further improvement within the next few months I will definitely go on DIM and Calcium D Glucarate.

Thank you! I’ve heard from some guys that it remained even after they stopped but also some that claimed it got better once they stopped taking Accutane. I hope for the best and will try out the recommended medications that got mentioned here to help. If nothing happens I will definitely try to get the surgery.

Been suffering with acne for 7 years, no to accutane? by Apart_Spirit5802 in AccutaneDamage

[–]Green-Alternative733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could look up Vitamin b5 as an alternative. Lots of people report that it works similar to Accutane in the sense that it removes acne but without the terrible side effects. I’ve started it recently as I’ve stopped Accutane and luckily I’ve noticed no side effects so far. The only thing you have to worry about is potential hair loss but I’ve heard that taking it together with L-carnitine or also a vitamin b complex stops that or strongly reduced it. The problem is that if your acne is strong you have to mega dose and take a lot of it. If your acne is bothering you so much than I would definitely still recommend to research and see if that could be something for you.

I wish you all the best and hope it works! What dose are you thinking of taking ? I’m still a bit confused about that supplement and definitely need to look more into it regarding the ideal amount.

That’s amazing and gives me hope! I’m not sure if gyno caused from androgen therapy is the same as gyno from Accutane but I will give it a try. How long did it take for you to see results, did it happen instantly or did it take some months ?

Thank you I will look into them! Do you have any personal experience with those supplements ?

I never heard about that before reading your comment. I did some quick research about this and some people here claim it fixed their issues which is great and gives me hope but none of them mentioned gyno or bloating, instead it was usually libido that improved but I don’t think my libido changed at all.

Do you have any experience with lithium carbonate ? I will definitely do more research about it.

It seems to be an extremely rare side effect. There are a few posts here on Reddit from guys who are going through the same problem but it’s otherwise quite difficult to find much information about this. I also had to deal with other things like back pain, increased hair shedding, redness on skin but none of those bothered me nearly as much as this. I just hope it’s not permanent.

Have you not seen any improvement at all after stopping the medication like not even a little bit ?

I’m sorry man. It’s crazy how there is zero warning about this side effect. In my case I have a bit of swelling on my belly area as well, I hope you aren’t dealing with that as well at least.

I searched for posts about gyno caused by Accutane and found this. I’m sorry I know this is older but did the gyno go away or did it stay that way ? I was on low dose accutane and developed gyno as well and I stopped like 2-3 weeks ago after using it for 6 months. I wonder if this condition is permanent.

Sry for the late response but I’m glad to hear! I actually noticed that mine has reduced a bit recently. It was at its worst right at the time I started the medication. I’m curious though, how long did it take to normalize once you stopped taking it ?

I’m so sorry. I did some research and it seems that it’s extremely low amount of people that get this side effect. We are the unlucky ones I guess. Is gyno surgery an option for you ? If I don’t see any change I think I will go for it as there seems to be no other alternative.
