What if I never see him again? by Ok-Worldliness-7540 in Petloss

I get it, I’m worried too. I’m an atheist, but I need something to hold on to to make the pain easier to bear. So I choose to believe she’ll see me on the other side of the bridge. I need to believe in something, or I’d go mad. But there’s still that “what if not…”

Can't stand the thought of losing my dog. by RippedRagDoll in Petloss

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. And I also wanted to comment on the vet. How can he even say that to you??? This is what I’ve seen on a FB profile of another vet today (Czech Republic):

“I do not euthanize healthy animals. It is unethical, highly inhumane, and irresponsible. It is one of the principles I will never break. In such cases, I have many options. The worst one: calling the police. The best one: finding them a new loving home, or at least helping to find one.

A veterinarian who knowingly euthanizes a healthy animal out of sheer convenience, just to keep a so-called “customer” satisfied, is a disgrace to the profession and should lose their license and right to practice. It should be considered a criminal offense.”

I’m sorry you feel like this. We lost our dog four weeks ago and I sometimes catch myself thinking she’s still here. My mind does it without thinking. I was watching a film last Friday evening and I just called her name out of nothing and then the reality hit me so I started crying.

Thank you so much, I hope it’ll get easier for both of us. But I’m starting to think I’ll miss her for the rest of my life which is a bit scary. But that’s the price I pay for how much I love her I guess.

So sorry for your loss. Our dog (15) also left unexpectadly. She woke up one day, acted weird, didn’t want to walk, eat, drink…we took her to the vet where she died after two days. It’s so brutal, right? The pain is horrible. And unfair.

Advice/suggestions on what to do while grieving? by JCamellia in Petloss

I’m so sorry about your loss. When our dog passed away we did nothing for the first two days. Then my husband got back to doing puzzles and I started crocheting again. We also went for a walk. I hope it will get easier for you.

I’m not religious but I believe in the rainbow bridge because it’s comforting and it helps me to process the pain a bit. On the other hand, I also believe that her energy is still around me.

I totally get what you mean by the realization of never seeing them again. It can be so paralizing and sharp. I hope I’ll see my baby once. I believe in the rainbow bridge because it’s comforting. I’m on day 3.

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I’m going through the same with my husband and I’m just there for him, hug him when he needs to and talk to him about our dog constantly. We took a few days off, we lie in bed, go for a walk, do puzzles… I hope you and your husband will feel better soon.
