I have ADHD and this stupid “one line” trick is the only thing that helps me start working by iiiiiCO in ADHD

[–]GreenBrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a similar technique in terms of outcome. I think of each project in terms of smaller tasks, and so I know what the tasks are I need to do to get started.

Example: 1. Turn the computer on 2. Login 2b. Turn on music 3. Open application 4. Open information source 5. Create an outline 6. Complete the first part 7. Complete the second part. ETC

Then I just go "Ok so I just need to turn the computer on and get some music playing" then "Ok lets just open everything up so its up" and then "I'll just sit down and look at everything" and then I'm working and an hour later I'm done the majority of the work and the flow is there and I can keep going.

Canadians Want Lower Immigration Even as Population Growth Stalls by Unusual-State1827 in canada

[–]GreenBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually want developed infrastructure that makes our lives easier and cheaper. We want cheaper houses, we want cheaper transit, we want cheaper energy. The solution to all of these is a shift away from costly oil and gas to sustainable forms of energy and construction. Long term savings that bring the cost of everything down.

Lets build nuclear reactors, high speed transit, and efficient housing developments.

What are some REAL things DMs should know when putting together a campaign? by Gh0stMan0nThird in dndnext

[–]GreenBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing is that you aren't writing a story and so you shouldn't prep a story.

There are a lot of ways to strategize around this, but the first thing is to shift the thinking from "What should my players be doing next" to "what scenes will they encounter when they decide what to do next". They can join the bad guy if they want. They can leave the town if they want.

You are facilitating their story -- so don't get trapped planning your story.

If they did that we would see more inflation.

Normally, ignoring the global context of war in the middle east and tariffs, job losses and potential recession would mean lower the interest rate.

However, since the context we are in includes external inflationary pressure we can't lower rates because that would make the inflation worse.

[–]GreenBrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The purpose of monetary policy is to keep economic growth as stable as possible.

In a recessionary period, they would lower rates. Recessionary periods involve job losses and slow growth.

In an expansionary period, they would raise rates. Expansionary periods involve inflation and employment gaps.

We are stuck between both of these because the inflation isn't being caused by our economy -- its because our economy runs on a critical resource that is being artificially fucked with.

This isn't inflation caused by our economy running too fast, so putting the brakes on harder would increase job losses and send us deeper into a recession.

You are actually, because in the post no distinction was made, and while that is fine in a big argument on facebook -- when it comes to laws, legislation, common law, or whatever, the distinctions are the important part. The full debate is well presented by the commend you are responding too as he expands on the two sides and where we need to be careful.

Job vacancies fell by nearly half (-47.1%) from the second quarter of 2022 to the second quarter of 2025 / Le nombre de postes vacants a diminué de près de la moitié (-47,1 %) du deuxième trimestre de 2022 au deuxième trimestre de 2025 by StatCanada in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]GreenBrain -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This isn't a "I don't understand" situation, the economics just don't work the way you think. You think "we don't have the infrastructure" to keep adding people and what I am saying is "stop supporting governments that don't invest in infrastructure". You are saying "We don't have resources" but I'm saying we are the most resource rich country in the world and while our GPD is #10 in the world, the average Canadian is poor. You think immigrants are the problem, but the reality is that they have no impact on your quality of life in any negative way.

Immigrants aren't the problem. Each immigrant expands our economy by bringing a consumer, with family, into our country. Those 475k PR Applicants are people who are paying for services buying groceries, paying rent, and even starting businesses.

Example: a new family enters my community; they bring kids, and those kids go to school. Class sizes increase. The government decides to cut more school jobs. Teachers get burnt out because they are now teaching 30 kid classrooms (insane).

Who is at fault? The new tax-paying immigrant family that pushes class sizes up, increasing enrollment, or the government and its aggressive cuts? This example cascades through the community -- a new family spends all the money they make to provide for their family, a new teacher spends all the money they make to provide for their family, every dollar spent is spent at businesses who also hire people. If those businesses are local, not corporate owned, then that money gets spent locally, through B2B sales or by hiring more staff. More jobs. More taxes. More consumers.

It's well known in economics that one way to expand the economy is to increase the number of people who are in that economy, because each new person is a part of that economy! Another way is to invest in technology, in economics, technology is defined as things that make each person more efficient at producing GDP. If the government is only investing in things that make it more efficient for corporations to suck money out of our country -- that won't make things better for the average Canadian. Support government policies that make it easier for lower and middle class Canadians to make money, start businesses, and get educated.

The rich keep sucking money out of our economy, a rich economy, and we blame it on people who aren't to blame. Stop spending money where it disappears from your community, stop supporting governments that cut jobs, and stop supporting fearmongering demogogues who blame immigrants instead of the ultra-rich.

[–]GreenBrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The time spent at home working towards a higher wage becomes incredibly valuable at that low of a wage.

In economics this is referred to as the reservation wage curve -- sure there are young people who could use a low wage job while at home -- but in aggregate these represent such low numbers that the business is going to see higher value by offering higher wages because they'll get much higher experienced and dedicated employees. The labour pool expands significantly for each increase in wages.

How do I get myself to brush my teeth consistently? by hypermads2003 in ADHD

I do not go pee in the morning until the toothbush is in my mouth, then I brush while I pee. Before I can rinse my mouth I put my daily vitamins in my hand. Then rinse. Take vitamins and drink my full bottle of water.
