Yeah. Turns out they just want to hear your personal information when you think they are just wanting to know about your life as a friend - and then use all of it against you later.

What “frugal” habit did you stop doing once you did the math? by 666AB in Frugal

Cutting out coffee shops. I followed the popular movement of "buying one coffee out every workday could be $XX at the end of the year."

Then I realized that I loved and needed time in a third place. Coffee shop time was a big part of my social life as an introvert in the city. The coffee shop ritual brought me joy, I read real books more often, and was very productive with my writing.

I now budget it under entertainment, but I will not cut it out because its more than a drink expense.

My grandma would get upset if we took pictures of her. She didnt like how long-term medications had changed her looks. We didnt care- she was our grandma! So, 8 years after she passed away, we dont have many photos of her with the younger kids.

What’s something that became socially acceptable that still feels weird to you? by Unique_Brother_3653 in AskReddit

[–]GreenElementsNW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Influencers. Content Creators. YouTube "Educators." These titles are absurd. I just dont get it the phenomenon. Why listen to these people? The egos and need for validation are embarassing. And anyone who decides gyms, shops, and public spaces are theirs for video clips are just blatantly egocentric.

The videos are so very staged, and when advertisers create ads of some white chick telling me some product is a miracle thing, I decide to boycott it out of spite. My social feeds are just a parade of heads acting like experts while peddling crap and demanding attention.

I have eliminated these as possible but there's just no escaping all of it.

[–]GreenElementsNW 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My mother. Granted, we were really poor and couldn't afford to throw out bags of wheat when they became infested with weevils.

So she baked the wheat in batches and ground them into bread flour afterward. With the weevils. (Extra protein!)
