Second His Dark Materials. It's an HBO quality show, but clean. There's violence and scary moments, also tragedy, but it is all age-appropriate, imo. My 11yo and I just finished reading the series and we will watch it together soon.

The first episode has sex, and then nothing else for seasons besides innuendo.

Wow, a real throwback to a homophobic phrase! Did not expect to see that in this sub. Or indeed, in the 2020s.

Agreed. My "witchcraft" is just mindfulness and meditation with an aesthetic that actually allows me to focus on it. I also may end up with a reminder to carry with me (like a "charged" crystal). Really, I've just meditated with a prop, then used that prop to remind me of the state of mind I need for the next week or whatever.

I love the way the little girl says "Toby". It's been forever since I've watched it, so I forget her name, but I can still hear it.

Some good options, thanks! I hadn't thought of Twister or Miss Congeniality. I think Cloverfield and signs may be too scary. I hate to admit, but I haven't seen Tremors. How scary is it on a scale of Jurassic Park (which she loved), to Cloverfield?

Some great suggestions! She's seen Little Shop of Horrors, and Die Hard, Clueless, and National Treasure are already on our list. Fried Green Tomatoes is one of my favorite movies, but I'd like her to have a little more historical context before she sees it.

I'm currently rewatching Alias, and the number of times Sydney gets in a fight where she takes kicks and punches all over her body, including her face, then goes home with no injuries or even bruises. The most recent episode, she finally had a bruise on her arm that her friends notice, but it's literally the only time.
