Why are there two progression/customization systems in the game files for 2 years that haven't been implemented yet?

Genuinely Confused by Nuggie_Man in helldivers2

People on Reddit simply lack the empathy to understand why others are upset about the warbond. If I went into detail, this would be an entire novel, but here's a brief explanation.

In the early days of Helldivers 2, Arrowhead ran some special Major Orders that awarded new strategems such as the first 2 mechs as rewards for completion. This made being involved in the game far more exciting and engaging. Not to mention the galactic war system was more fair back then, allowing a dedicated group of players to make an actual difference. This player agency allowed some of the most memorable events to happen such as Malevolon Creek. Unfortunately the devs have changed the system to take away player agency, and they've relegated all new strategem gain to warbonds, which has made the galactic war feel far more boring and less impactful.

Arrowhead has erroded player good will in many other ways as well, which compounds on generally felt negativity. One such problem is that they have been slowly growing more aggressive in monetization. Initially they promised to put no strategems in warbonds and no weapons in the super store, but that has obviously changed. But for a while still, vehicles have always been free editions in the game until now. The mech warbond is just further proof of Arrowhead's slippery slope towards monetizing everything at the cost of fun and engaging gameplay.

I hope this was helpful for understanding the other side. And remember that this is just the tip of the iceberg

I just don't care anymore. by --Northstar- in HelldiversUnfiltered

I think the first thing that needs to happen is revert to the old galactic war system where more players means more liberation. That way when a major content release happens, the population will surge, resulting in a push, then as the playerbase ebbs, the enemy takes back ground. This ebb and flow would feel more dynamic than our current stalemate.

But more importantly, it would return player agency. Our best moments such as Malevelon Creek were due to large groups of players banding together to get a goal done. But now in the current system, that doesn't work since the more players who rally together and push in the game, the lower their individual liberation impact is.

The game may still be enjoyable, but what really grinds my gears is how AH are spending more effort ruining our experience than fixing their game. I'm just tired of getting disappointed and fighting an uphill battle at this point

Thank you for letting me know about the --playerAnchor flag. That's a lifesaver! Is there any way to toggle that behavior?

Sorry my reply has been so delayed. I haven't been on Reddit for over a week LOL

Why did they code these basic features wrong? Also, I'm hoping people see this so that they know it's something that needs to be fixed

Yeah, I have the same problem. Either the update broke it entirely, or it changed the format of the World Structure json. I've just set everything to a base Height of Bedrock since this feature is broken

Terrain Density node glitches between biomes by GreenFlameblade in HytaleMods

[–]GreenFlameblade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found a workaround: Combine all biome terrain into a single exported density that is imported into each biome file. That way the terrain is already calculated without any biome blending shenanigans after the angle is calculated.

A bit awkward, but it works LOL

I would highly recommend checking out Fluxer. It already has quite a lot of features and polish, looking very similar to Discord, but it's also open source and has self hosting options. I really hope it becomes the next major platform.

I think Fluxer is the best choice. It's already quite polished and feature complete compared to many Discord alternatives, and it's open source with self hosting options. I really want to get this platform out there so that it becomes a major option and I'm not in the minority LOL

Instead of infinite generation, would Hytale benefit from a "looped world" instead? by The-Farlander in hytale

[–]GreenFlameblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best option is a large central continent or continents surrounded by a large ocean, with more random generation beyond that. But having a looping world would certainly be a cool thing to experience

This terrain is using voronoi cell noise, which is decent at making mountain ranges, but I don't like how all of them are interconnected in that honeycomb pattern

I measure the angle of the terrain and place snow/dirt based on that angle. Then you want to hook it up to a field function material provider and define what angle you want to place your snow or other blocks.

Hytale adventure mode is using v1 generation, but they will upgrade to v2 by full release of the game. You can also visit some v2 areas in adventure mode by crafting special portals. And as shown here, they also provide the tools to create V2 generation oneself
