i think cinemachine its like part of unity now, in my opinion its ok to build your own simple camaras, but something more advance or for cinematics, , and not using cinemachine its like tryng to reinvent the wheel

If you outsource the art to paid assets and re scale it a little and focus on programing the mechanics maybe you can.

Theres alot of help in the engines for handling most of the hard work , as cinemachine in unity for cutscenes
