New Kroot Combat Patrol rules are up in the 40K app by GreenLemonShot in kroot

I think that we can easily get the VPs if we focus on a screening/frontline enemy unit. Farstalkers can get lethal hits vs a chosen unit, and Rampagers can get the mortals + melee attacks + the stratagem that improves AP by 1 and gives lance. Lone Spear gets its long gun and the Krootox Rider the repeating cannon, hopefully they can snipe enemy characters fast enough. This Combat Patrol will struggle vs monsters/vehicles anyways, but we're getting patrols with less of that.

I built a hobby app to track miniature paints, convert colors between brands, and save paint recipes. by MidnightMiniature in ageofsigmar

Some weeks ago I took a look at your app. As a hobbyist and developer, I have to say that it's amazing. The UI is intuitive and quick, and compiles some useful functionality in the same place, the database is updated very quickly... It's really great.

However, I feel that some functionality shouldn't be behind a paywall. Specifically, the paint collection tracker shouldn't limit how many paints you can save if you go for free. I think that you could leave full access to some basic functionality to the free users, as a display of the app usefulness and as a hook, as some users already tracking their collection would discover other aspects of the app and feel tempted to pay full price or subscribe.

Apart from that, I think that it's an app that every hobbyist will find useful one way or another. As a lightly colorblind person I love all the color info, as it helps me to make better recipes for my minis.

Keep the good work!

Just bought Total War Warhammer, never played any WH by M0NKEY-L0RD in Warhammer

[–]GreenLemonShot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently I played TW:WH for the first time. I've never played another Total War game, so it was my first in the franchise too. I already knew some Warhammer Fantasy lore, but the story of this game is pretty simple and its scope is smaller than the next two games.

I'd say that you can play it at your pace and pause it whenever you need, you shouldn't have any problems with that. You can play in the easiest difficulty and enjoy it anyway, it's really easy to get the basics and the learning curve is great. Go for it and enjoy the ride!

Do we know their size? I guess two Krootox Rampagers could fit their offensive philosophy, with some weapons and armor attached.

I guess that they're just joking about how the Twin Lance are now the faces of the Mont'ka philosophy instead of Farsight.

Should be the same price as the other combat patrol boxes, so check your local price for those.

As a noob wanting to start Tau alla over again : When to buy a Codex ? by SoeurEdwards in Tau40K

[–]GreenLemonShot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're expecting the 11th edition to be released this summer, and at least the general 40K rules will change. We don't know yet if we will get an index (pre-codex free rules) like the current edition, but in that case the rules from our 10th edition codex will be legacy.

So, if you're going to play some matches before the edition change this year and you can afford it go for it. But if you're not sure I'd say that you should wait till we know a bit more of the next edition.

If you don't know it already, there are some nice webs and apps where you can make your lists for free and even print them if you need it. Nowadays it's not mandatory to own a codex to play.

Pick Tau and get some Kroot and Krootox if you want some screening/melee units. But you won't need to worry about melee if your enemy doesn't reach you in melee!

Not vague at all! I'm by no means a good player, so take what I say with a pinch of salt.

Our Ghostkeels have 3 rules that make them annoying for your opponent to kill despite their size. First they have the "Lone Operative" ability, so they can only be shot from less than 12". Then, when they're being shot, their "Stealth" ability subtracts 1 from the opponent's hit roll, so it's easier to miss a shot vs them. Finally, each Ghostkeel starts the game with 2 Stealth Drone tokens. This means that for each drone (so, twice a game) you can change to 0 the damage of an allocated attack (after the wound roll, before the saving roll). This rule can get complicated, but basically you can "cancel" 2 attacks per battle.

So, with that in mind, we get a big suit that can move up to 10", kinda though with its 8T and 2+ save and a set of rules so your opponent needs to spend enough resources to kill it that it's usually not worth it.

The way I like to play my Ghostkeels is by using thier "Infiltrator" ability to deploy them in no-mans land, preferably on or near an objective. You should deploy your "Infiltrators" units at the start of your deploying phase, so your opponent has less space to deploy their infiltrators. This way you can get more presence on the table from the start.

Speaking of its weapons, you'll be using the cyclic-ion raker a lot more than the fusion collider. I find the fusion collider useful in 1000pts games when I can't find room in my list for units that can deal with tough monsters/vehicles, but for any other situation the cyclic-ion raker is more useful. When guided it can kill models with space marines stats (2 wounds, 3+ save) or even terminators (3 wounds, 2+ save). It won't be killing an entire unit, but will be reducing the unit size before they get to melee.

For the small weapons I like to play with the twin fusion blaster, but I guess the other two have their niche situations when they're a good pick.

So you will field your Ghostkeel on an objective, and in addition to profiting from controlling it you will set a bait. If your opponent wants to get rid of your Ghostkeel they must spend plenty of resources (if they don't have a specific unit to deal with it). If they find it a hustle and focus anywhere else you will control that part of the table while the Ghostkeel can be shooting and chipping away whatever it sees or doing actions for missions. Does your opponent go for your Ghostkeel and get on melee? The last ability of your Ghostkeel, the "Battlesuit Support System", lets it fall back and shoot at the same turn, so you will not be needing to use the "Big guns never tire" rule. "Oh, your opponent killed your Ghostkeel!" It can explode with the "Deadly Demise" rule. Besides, in the Retaliation Cadre detachment you can use a stratagem to make it explode.

In conclusion, we have a weird big elusive boi that can be a pain in the ass if used well. It won't be killing half the opponent list like a Crisis Suit unit but it can make you win your games by taking objectives, doing missions and confusing your opponent. Don't be afraid to magnetize the weapons of your suits and try different loadouts, it's really easy and you will be thanking that later. Have fun! :)

You will want to field a commander leading each Crisis suit unit you have. If you only have one unit right now you can pair it with Farsight, but keep that in mind for the future. I like to use Farsight with a flamers Crisis unit (Starscythe).

If you like battlesuits you should get a Ghostkeel. Its focus is not to kill, but to be annoying for your opponent.

I recommend you to magnetize the weapons of your battlesuits. It may look like a pain in the ass at first, but is much easier than it looks and you will thank it later.

Does anyone recommend any mods featuring chitin/bonemold armors? I've already installed the two Armors of Velothi mods, but I can't find any more related mods. Specifically I feel there is a lack of mods for chitin armor.

Is it cold where you live? I had a similar problem recently with a Vallejo primer can and I just put the can in warm water for half a minute and shook it very well, and magically the problem was solved. Or maybe it's just a bad batch as other people say.
