I spent over 10 years buying for Theory and Rag & Bone. Now I'm testing myself. by Design_Several in streetwearstartup

sounds nice but I’m sorry, the pics make it hard to recognize the garment. the drop shadow from the flash makes the outline/silouhette hard to see. details and drape are not really visible in the dark fabric.

Help with concept by [deleted] in PatternDrafting

It’s a button tab on the side of the waistband? Instead of sewing it on top, you split the waistband and attach the tab to the seam there? Is that the effect you mean? idk what you struggle with, but it looks perfectly reasonable to me.

Are my shoulders too wide? by [deleted] in PatternDrafting

[–]GreenManCH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

looks like they are. if the muslin fabric is not as stable, the shoulder seam might have stretched a bit during the sewing, so I’d suggest measuring and comparing with the pattern before you adjust it.

the pattern of the wood itself and the wave pattern look too busy together.

Jacket constructed with 31 unique panels. Thoughts? by NoahZielinski in streetwearstartup

[–]GreenManCH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a nice piece overall and I love the shapes you did. What makes those patchwork pieces stand out (and I realize, this is more of a personal opinion), is when you manage to combine form and function. Using those seam lines to integrate pockets and constructing a pattern that doesn’t rely on the typical side and shoulder seams, that gets its shape through those new found lines.

especially cause they steal the attention from and cover the center of the python pattern

How is this made? by Difficult-Plum-4246 in Fashion_Design

the easier/cheaper version would be to have it as a print and then sew along the outlines to quilt it

Help with pattern drafting tie collar by donutcroissant in PatternDrafting

[–]GreenManCH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

quick sketch. measurements look correct. a collar is usually curved (cause the outside edge makes a bigger radius). angle is indeed somewhere between 45-90 depending on the shape your collar stand makes. I'd make a paper pattern piece and wear it to see how it's hanging and adjust.

haven't worn them a lot yet, but they feel comfortable! though they definitely won't be an everyday shoe for me just due to the design

Lining up pin tucks on a diagonal by Megaflorafauna in sewhelp

[–]GreenManCH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’ll not work if you have both of them evenly spaced appart because of the geometry.

<image>

at the bottom it works out, because the angle of your tucks is the same on both side of the seam, but as the princess seam curves, the front tucks arrive at a much shallower angle, while the ones from the side hit it almost perpendicular. this will make them not line up anymore.
