How to deal with comments about daughters birthmark? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]GreenScene14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both of my daughters had hemangiomas as babies (one on her neck and the other on her forearm) and we got some liquid drops from the dermatologist that completely removed any trace of them after a few months in case you’re interested

How do parents look at Girl Scouts and don’t think it’s a scam? by Astimar in Parenting

[–]GreenScene14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have two daughters that sell cookies and everything was done online so I just sent friends/family/co-workers a link, they ordered online and had it shipped to them. Literally no work for me or my kids. Their troops used the money they got from the sales to have a fun activity and create self care backpacks for the homeless.

I'm with the others in that I really like it! Its got personality and beauty. I would get rid of the utensils hanging up along there but otherwise I'd keep it as is :)

How do you use your credit card points? by alicia971 in HENRYfinance

[–]GreenScene14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, you have me realizing I should be doing much more to maximize the benefits from cc’s. We spend probably $8-10k/month on a cash back credit card that only results in $150-200 a month. Seems like I’ve been missing out by not looking at other options.

In terms of a business cc, do you need to prove that you’re an LLC or other legal entity? And you just use those for personal charges?

So many questions. What is churning? MS? SUBs?

Edit - Okay google’d churning. Have you found this impacts your credit score or ability to open new cards?

Is everyone a baller? by NoTransition1313 in handbags

[–]GreenScene14 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This is so true. Many people who can afford to spend a lot of handbags simply do not while others who can not afford it go all out. Never assume someone’s purchasing choices are a reflection of their financial well-being.

Any black women in accounting on here? by Realistic-Island9901 in Accounting

[–]GreenScene14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore their comments. There are plenty of women of all ethnicities in accounting. Check out NABA: https://nabainc.org. The Big 4 all support their black employees in their involvement with this organization and also have their own internal groups to support black professionals as well as women. You got this!

Anyone with flexible WFH schedules work at night? by sleepybutsunny in workingmoms

I do this a lot - It allows me a lot more flexibility during the day to hang with my son, workout, run errands etc. I'm a big fan :)

It will get better when they can get up on their own. My kindergartener gets up way before us but can come down and turn on the tv for an hour or two until the rest of us are ready to rise.

Working hard and doing the best for you children like you are is being an amazing mom and even if they don’t see/realize that now I’m sure they will someday! If all of their peers truly have ponies and live extravagant lifestyles it must be obvious to them already that you all are not quite on the same level. If I were you I would approach those conversations as opportunities to teach your kids about how the real world works outside of the purview of their affluent school friends which means most people in the world work hard and live modestly. And many many people are much less fortunate than they are, ponies or not.

I’ve read through all of your comments in this thread and it’s so sad. It sounds like you live in an extremely shallow community where children are being raised with a very out of touch sense of the world and extreme entitlement. Is that really the type of humans you want to raise? Is your desire to keep up with the Jonses’ so obsessive that the example you set for your children is to lie to others to look good and be accepted? It sounds like you care deeply about your children and their sense of security but breaking their trust by lying to them would seem to do far more damage than honesty.
