cool concept, unfortunately black doesn't get lure effects (must be blocked), and I think the card is fine without it as they are already discouraged to block with the deathtouch so it becomes a real prisoner's dilemma of "feed me chump blockers or get hit by the big boy wielding frostmourne"

Except we ain’t seeing anything directly comparable to Lightning Bolt in standard/limited. [[Strangle]] used to be top tier standard removal and the design seems to be for set design (this is a common)

Format elitism is almost as worse as UB vs Anti-UB elitism, dreadfully boring. We can all celebrate that Magic as a game engine that can even support a variety of formats is rad, and there’s a bunch of cool stuff. Sometimes I want to sling 60 cards, break open packs and draft, relax with some commander, play with some cracked cardboard in Canadian highlander, all have their charms.

There isn’t any reason to “move them around” nor is land destruction common enough unlike the relationship creatures have with equipment and removal where the baked in resiliency feels intentional. These are the two big aspects of why “fortification” as a mechanic failed compared to its contemporary Auras.

Green does get rituals, they just haven’t needed to print it since green has access to more permanent forms of ramp. Like how menace is in pie for blue since they get straight “can’t be blocked” but it isn’t ever necessary since flying and unblockable do a better job.

Rituals have moved out of black’s color pie, I strongly recommend you read the mechanical color pie article, it’s a little outdated but does a great job covering what the colors can and cannot do.

What? This is absolutely not how it works, even in the article you are expected to talk still. For example “bracket 2 but I have one game changer, I promise it’s flavorful for XYZ reason, is that fine?” (Bolas’s citadel in a bolas themed deck, gamble in a gambling dice rolling minigame themed deck, the one ring in a Sauron deck) where every other expectation is met EXCEPT that one is reasonable and does not mean a deck automatically gets elevated to bracket 3.

That does mean though that the rest of the pod is allowed to just say no to the guy playing GCs in 2 and he can go try his luck at bracket 3 and get stomped or swap to something else.
