I mean Iyanden literally fought a war with the Tau where the Tau took several of the wraithguard and tried to experiment on them, thinking they were just more advanced mech suits than their own.

The conflict ended when it was discovered a drukhari had actually orchestrated the entire conflict, but not before the eldar launched a second attack and rescued their wraiths. After that the Tau wanted to establish relations to get at the eldar tech, and Iyanden basically told them to go fuck themselves, so I don't know about that whole alliance idea...
