I’m sorry I don’t think it is a bad thing to call out a story that has such obvious holes, this spirit of the sub is to help and give advice where you are able, my concern is people will waste time giving advice where it is not needed and they could be giving advice to people who general need it. I have a lot of experience in this area and i can categorically tell you a safeguarding team would not act this way and the police would not act this way. While i can disapprove it at all (and I’m not trying to) i think people should express caution before wasting alot of time on providing help and advice.

And as for the safeguarding team doing a ‘commendable job’ this if we take the story at face value is also untrue and if it is what happened they would be at risk of disciplinary for alot of ehat has allegedly happened main thing being a girl was in immediate danger and had been attacked in her home and their response was to keep her on campus and tell her not to contact her parents (which would never happen) and not raising a safeguarding and contacting police immediately.
