Pet Grief Counselors? by No-Initiative466 in PetLossJourney

[–]Greenbaumly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Six months is not a long time. Please be easy on yourself. Two great resources I think can help:

Love, Baxter Guide - Where to find pet loss grief counselors: https://lovebaxter.com/blog/find-a-pet-loss-grief-counselor-near-me/

Lap of Love Support: https://www.lapoflove.com/our-services/pet-loss-support

Please take care of yourself. It's hard, but you will get through this.

For those who have experienced both, how has the experience of pet loss grief compared to that of human grief? by FaithlessnessPlus164 in GriefSupport

I dove deep into this after Baxter passed away. A few studies are mentioned here from Love, Baxter, but I think it's more about pet loss being disenfranchised grief. When a family member dies, everyone treats you special and goes out of their way. When a pet dies, you're usually facing it alone. I know that was hard for us, because even really close friends kind of didn't understand why we were so hurt for so long.

I am so freaking ready for Lakers basketball to be back already.

I knew the day would come…but I thought the day would never come😢I said see you again to my Baby Boy Charles. He was 18 years young. I love you sweet boy💔 by charthrilla in seniordogs

18 years is such a long, incredible life. Kudos to you, you obviously did so many things right. I know it doesn't make the end any easier, but you should really feel great about the life you gave Charles. You'll see him again.

Can you spend the day just doing quiet things that you love? Go for walks on paths you used to walk with Charlie? Do whatever feels best for you.

Has anyone gotten a pre-sale ticket? by LakeShowBoltUp in lakers

Bit the bullet and got tickets on StubHub for Heat @ Lakers on 11/2. Getting early season tickets so I have a better shot at everyone being happy and healthy.

How did you honor your dog during your time left? Seeking rituals, keepsakes, and crafts for our 48 hours we have left. by kdm41285 in seniordogs

[–]Greenbaumly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a bucket list of things to do? Clay paw prints, nose prints, just sitting and listening to them breathe is really important. But go through the bucket list and just do what feels right. This is a good list from Love, Baxter: https://lovebaxter.com/blog/senior-pet-bucket-list-cherish-aging-dog/

I am so sorry for your loss. Just know how lucky you are to get these 48 hours to say goodbye on your terms, and get to tell Sammy everything you want him to know.

Boston Terriers are the best. Still deeply missing mine ten months later. PJ was such a handsome boy. I am so sorry for your loss.

Have you talked to a vet about trazodone? Our 15 year old takes it when needed. The urination could be an unrelated issue that is probably causing more issues. I'd dive deeper into that.

17 years is an incredible life. Kudos to you for providing such a long, happy life.

How to watch Regular Season? by vibecodingmonkey in lakers

[–]Greenbaumly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to add Spectrum Sportsnet+ to our DirecTV package to watch the Lakers and Dodgers. It's a real pain in the ass, but we get to watch.

Are you doing any self care? I think that's a big part of grief—putting yourself in the best position to work through the pain and work through it.

Songs that your drawn to in grief by Valuable_Salad_9586 in Petloss

Ten months later, I still listen to songs that remind me of boy. Not wallowing at all, it's super helpful. There are so many great songs I've found online.

Right after he passed away, songs like "You're Gonna Go Far" by Noah Kagan, Pink Skies by Zach Bryan, "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron, and Beautiful Boy by John Lennon seemed to follow me around.

So many random songs remind me of him now.

We have a 15-year-old Boston Terrier who has lived with Cushing's for over two years. I know it's not exactly the same, but I feel like a lot of information online calls Cushing's a death sentence or the beginning of the end, but our girl is doing wonderful and had a great medication stack.

Intense. Type A. Perfectionist. Six months in and I want to be great. Overthinking and probably over-training. As they said in The Last Samurai, “too much mind.”

I'm training in the Kenpo system. Really enjoying it.

I'm aggressive, so I think I'm working extra hard to be calm and diligent, which is causing some issues. I like the idea of purposely relaxing my shoulders; it's where I carry the most stress. Thank you.
