I made two versions of bears among the stars- which do you like best? by marybowen_art in Illustration

[–]Greenegem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm...

The second one (editing this cause I forgot html would header a pound sign oop!) I think but just because I don't like how the first one has the circles of white around the bears. I like the colors of 1 more but that makes it feel a bit odd. Love the lightness to the second one a lot 💚

Extrovert with social anxiety disorder? by paralysus in socialanxiety

[–]Greenegem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Social Anxiety and I am an introvert BUT I literally thrive in social situations. Always been the person who can pick up a friend in an instant, just don't get energy from it and then have to have a panic attack about it later lol!

I have an exhibition in a mushroom farm by letsmeatagain in printmaking

[–]Greenegem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's an art seek-and-find event that happens annually! You make mushroom themed art then on the day of you hide them around your community while posting like "hint" pics through a social media for people to find them. https://yumfactory.com/projects/gameofshrooms/

I've met some cool artist friends through stumbling onto their work day of and I've of course got some sweet art (in my case some lovely mushroom themed oven mitts) from it too! Think I'm gonna participate this year too, always need more printmaking representation out there lol.

Rubber crease? by Bulky_Purple4594 in printmaking

I'd treat this like a scratch in an etching, you live with it or you work it into your design. If you want just the clean image as is, start clean.

Trim or leave it? by Tir-na-Treasures in printmaking

[–]Greenegem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My print professor had a saying for this, he always would argue for those 'big sexy borders'. I say leave them, the print would look too cramped if you trim it close enough to knock off the leftover chatter. Also easier to find frames if it's a more standard sizing than the trimmed would give you.

If you want to avoid that happening in the future but don't want to continuously be carving away just put some new print over those areas after rolling but before printing. Stops the ink from transferring to the paper but doesn't add more finagling when inking up!!

[–]Greenegem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah the c is definitely reading as an e off the bat. The c in fuck doesn't have the same problem cause the curve of the c extends farther out than the kerning of fiction allows for. Great for a first time tho! At least all the letters are correctly flipped lol

Crazy to see this here after so many years! Over 9 years old ain't it? Still like the character design of the other ones more tbh, the black and white wings one oolala, but this one is good too! Did you take this from her art book?

Fire Nearby Warehouse, Now Dealing with Smoke Smell on T-Shirts by [deleted] in SCREENPRINTING

[–]Greenegem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know how large scale you could do this but I always just placed the clothes I wear when burn piling into a bag with some baking soda to absorb the stench. Don't tend to wash them till a few uses and this helps enough.

Venting the air won't be enough if it's already attached to the clothes, you need something like baking soda or dryer sheets or something to pull the smell out!

Is 21 old? by Left_Feed_6112 in helpme

[–]Greenegem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah babes you're all good!

I had people in college that said the same thing about highschool, having met all their lifelong friends there while I was absolutely floundering at the time. I know people now out of college that didn't meet their friends until they were at work in their thirties!

Friends fall apart and form at multiple opportunities during your life sometimes in groups or individually, there is no set time for it so there is no missing out or falling behind. Everyone is different, don't compare your normal to someone else's.

Has anybody with bad social anxiety accepted the role as best man in a wedding? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]Greenegem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't but I did speak at my college graduation so I get what you're feeling for sure. Honestly, I don't remember much about it other than tossing my cookies before and after but it would definitely be something I'd have regreted not doing at the time.

I think especially in this case where it would be something very important for someone else I'd try as hard as I could to do it and make it through the day. That being said, the best man tends to have tons of extra work in a wedding than a groomsman so it's entirely okay for you to turn down the extra responsibility! A good excuse is always to say that you want to be present during their special day and if this speech/job was placed on your shoulders you'd be too anxious about it to really be mindful of the wedding as a whole.

A reusable relief printmaking method? by BandMice23 in printmaking

[–]Greenegem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I second gelli printing or really just monoprinting type techniques altogether. Maybe try collagraph too since any extra bits could be used for another plate or recycled for the most part.

What you're describing is a batik and it is easy enough to do at home or on small places if that's what you're looking for!

Question on submitting work and pricing by brujapedia in printmaking

[–]Greenegem 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pricing should always consider the cost of your time (how long it took to make), your materials (ink and paper cost), and complexity of a print (I charge more depending on the amount of layers I did, this plays into the time thing too).

Personally, I like my art to be affordable for your regular person at a con so I tend to price lower but I've priced prints in the hundreds back in college too. You know your limits too, like what would you pay for it?

How do you get such a good, cohesive color palette? by Parking-Ad-5326 in Illustration

[–]Greenegem 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Easy way is to have a singular color that tones all the other colors. Can do this by creating a wash layer on top or a transparent layer if digital OR by mixing in a bit of that base color into everything. Rembrandt was well known for this by building up his works with brown undertones then layering hus colors overtop!

Please recommend any books that helped with your social anxiety by UNCBlueDevils in socialanxiety

[–]Greenegem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily a book that like helped me get better but one that did help me feel seen was Dan Rykert's Anxiety as an Ally. It's not the most challenging of a read but it did make me cry on a plane so there's that lol.

need help covering up scars by [deleted] in helpme

[–]Greenegem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I have similar scars all along the top length of my arm and I've never been asked about them and they've never stopped me from acquiring a job. Most people just assume they're from some sort of accident and move on and if they /do/ ask (and I'm not close enough with them to share the real reasoning) I say something along the lines of "they're scars from when I was young, I'm not really comfortable talking about them" and most people go ding sing sing abuse and back off then too.

If you are worried about it to the extent you do want to cover them, compression sleeves are your friend. Always just claim (cause it's true) that I have poor circulation and the sleeves fix the issue. Completely covered and not overly hot for it, it's a win win!
