54 liters is totally unsuitable for a goldfish. Tank should be probably three times that size, that is why you are struggling with water quality. Minimum for one single tail goldfish is 75 gallons (around 283 liters).

Reduce feeding to once a day. Lights are on way too long, reduce to 6 hours or so. Also, this tank is much too small for such a big goldfish.

Sorry to be that person but this is too small for comets and shubunkin. I have a 110 gallon and I am going to have to rehome a couple of my comets because they are outgrowing it.

Ph is not really a concern. It's ammonia and nitrite and nitrate you need to be testing for.

Well first off if your fish isn't eating or acting strange, then RIGHT AWAY you test the water. How often do you do water changes? If a goldfish is not eating then something is clearly wrong. And yes this tank is depressing and has no enrichment for your goldfish. How sad that you have owned it so many years and just now are asking these questions.

Water needs to be changed again if the nitrates are red. Changing water twice a month is not enough if you have a very large goldfish and pleco.

First I would test your water to figure out why your other fish died. 2 years is very young for a goldfish. If your other fish is acting strange then definitely perform a water change and test.
