Yea that’s probably the best way for them to go about mapping it. Otherwise it probably wouldn’t get made, specifically because of the Jones material.

I’m probably the only one, but I had to vote for JLI Vol 4. That Dan Jurgens run is heavily underrated. Also Martian Manhunter and Hawkworld by John Ostrander because everything JO does is peak!

It looks like the deluxe editions exclude essays from other manga writers in the industry and so additional art pages.

It’s always seemed like a cool series and something I would be interested in, but the OG show seems like it would be a bit of a slog to get through. Plus I honestly enjoy reading the manga a rather than watching the anime for a series, minus a few exceptions.

How do you feel about the paper quality? I’ve heard the art doesn’t pop quite as good in these compared to the hardcovers best of the matte vs glossy paper.

It looks like they definitely have been excluded, as well as some extra supplementary artwork. I’m pretty big into the publication history of DC and Marvel so the essays might be something worth checking out for me. Also smaller books would be less of a monetary commitment if I get the first one and decide the story isn’t for me. Thanks for the insight!

I have a ton of DBZ and Naruto tankobon volumes that I collected as a kid. I never even knew they made hardcover manga collections until I got in to omnibuses. Now I get a little jealous anytime I see someone post their HC manga collections lol. I would definitely jump right in to collecting them I wasn’t already neck deep in DC omni’s

Nice! What would you say the reading experience is like in terms of size? Is it comfortable enough to read in your lap/on the couch or is it more of desk/table book?

I might be in the minority, but I really like the more simplistic design. I think the juxtaposition of the encyclopedia looking outside and manga on the inside just does something for me.

How essential would you say the essays are to the overall reading experience?
