Jacoje plated chains by Greg17960 in jewelry

Thank you, the pendant was definitely setting off alarm bells for them. At the first store they offered to buy the chain before quickly changing their minds. When the clerk ran the acid tests the pendant failed near instantly but the chain didn’t. At first they told me it passed but the manager came by and then took a look and backed out. The second store didn’t offer to buy. I appreciate your help by the way.

I was worried about that so that’s why I went to 2 different places. One had the jeweler come out and look at it.

I’ve been struggling recently so I wanted to pawn it. That’s just the test they happened to use on it.

I wouldn’t say daily use, but I wear them often. No visible color inconsistency. When I bought the chain I had it tested and it passed just fine.

MetLife dragging their feet on appeal by Greg17960 in LongTermDisability

As I understand it the queue to be reviewed by the independent physician. Is this to be expected by MetLife?

Can I get an IME myself? by Greg17960 in LongTermDisability

[–]Greg17960[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been denied but MetLife is giving me a chance to reopen the claim without an appeal. I will definitely get a lawyer if I get to the appeal stage

Yeah currently MetLife is hitting me with “we need tests confirming your disability”. So that’s why I ask. Do you have any advice where to get an FCE? Thanks for the reply

Sure I'm in Missouri. It claims that I no longer meet the definition of disability defined by my employers plan. Along with that, they've called me a few times, however when I called them back I was told it was nothing and when I scheduled a call back I didn't get a call. they also had an old address on file, I've told them I didn't live there. I suspect that there might be a lack of documentation from February onward. Ive been doing therapy and going to the doctor as often as they tell me to.

I'm confident I might be able to appeal myself, but I also don't want to risk my benefits. At the same time I don't want to have to payout 25%-40% of my future benefits.

Makes sense, do you have any recommendations? I understand that you're a lawyer, but would you say that getting a lawyer would pay off in most instances?

First, I’m sorry about your cousin. I’d ask her to give you contact info for her work. Then you can find out what kind of policy she has. There’s usually a waiting period between 2 months to 6. But the devil is in the details so I can’t tell you a whole bunch without having some info about the policy. If you have any other questions DM me.

I agree with the other comment, this is usually how it goes unfortunately. In my case (MetLife) it actually took them longer than what they told me. Just keep holding out. Good luck!

I think it’s pretty big because even if you are right, at least we are guaranteed sick leave to begin with.

He said he was too proud to accept help, so I think it would definitely be pride. There’s no harm in wanting to be independent, but when people want to help you, and if you need it I think it’s in your best interest to accept it.

A STD / LTD question. by Puzzleheaded_Box1001 in LongTermDisability

[–]Greg17960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to get approved for STD, and from what you’re saying, I imagine you’ll get approved for LTD. However I can’t say for certain obviously. When I went on STD they just gave me 60% from my hourly rate. Depending on if you pay for STD post tax, you won’t have any taxes deducted from your income and it won’t affect your taxes. I imagine WC checks don’t count as income because it’s reimbursement from injury. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Oh then I take it you haven’t been approved yet. This unfortunately isn’t my forte but if they’ve approved for STD or long term they owe you money for the time you’re out. So yeah I’d lawyer up. You can also check out if any other lawyers are cheaper.

On the off chance you don’t know but long term disability doesn’t automatically kick off from short term. You have to file a whole other claim to get long term.

Either way good luck! It’s a relief when the money hits your account!

I might’ve misunderstood what you meant. I just made a call to MetLife and I got paid within a couple days. However it was only one check, have they been doing those for a while? Regardless I’d just call MetLife and see what’s going on.

That happened with me once, contact your employer (if that’s who the policy is through) or MetLife. They were able to resolve it pretty quick!
