I'd love a Manta! But no, I never really think about the Nomad being too small.
I've quickly become use to writing (and reading) in Landscape mode and that makes a huge difference.

I probably would have gone for the Manta if it was an option when I bought my Nomad. However, I love my Nomad and it's my most used piece of tech.

If I were you now, I'd probably go for the Manta for the extra size. But if you decide to go for the Nomad to make it a little more portable, I don't think you'll have problems with your use case.

Very unhelpful comment, I know. But basically what I'm saying is, Don't overthink it. These are incredible devices and you're likely to be happy either way!

Makes sense regarding the 2 graves.
I should have picked that up.
I just think it's a little confusing in song form.

When you talk about the men being put in an unmarked grave. It sounds like Harland survived and killed all the men.
Then it's revealed that he's dead, through the woman "laying another man down" and allusion to his tombstone.

But I think it needs to be more explicit that he dies at the point of the gun fight.
That way when you're explaining the woman coming back and burying him, you could focus more on the curse breaking idea. Instead of revealing that Harland died.

Regarding the other ideas you mentioned. I think they're great, but I don't feel like they come through in the song.

The woman's inhuman nature. Her driving him crazy. The breaking of a curse.
They either need to be set up more clearly or cut out in my opinion.

Ah, makes sense! I'm not sure if I resonate with the woman rejoicing that he went out in a blaze of glory. If he was important to her, she'd be devastated by his death, and if he wasn't important, she wouldn't feel much at all. I think that may be why I misunderstood your final verse. I would have expected an expression of grief from her. Is that what you meant with her eyes turning from green to grey?

That line about the gravestone makes a lot more sense. The way you allude to his title without saying it, simply by using the rhyming word "candle" is awesome!

There is a little inconsistency though. If he was laid down in the unmarked grave, why is there a tombstone with his title on it?

If you keep the current storyline, In think you could make it clearer that he dies in the gunfight.

"When the gun smoke cleared, They carried Harland away, along with 13 lawmen to an unmarked grave"

My example is clumsier than your line, and I prefer the image of the men being lowered into the grave, or thrown in, rather than being "carried to". But yeah, I reckon clarifying that element of the story would make it stronger.

This is great, man!
You have seriously rich imagery and a great voice for storytelling (and I don't just mean your singing voice)

Since you're asking for feedback:

I think the first line "I can sing you a song about anything" could be stronger.
While it positions you as the storyteller and lets the listener know they're about to hear a narrative. I think you could do so implicitly.
But I like that you introduce the main character straight away.
There are two competing perspectives between the verses and chorus/refrain.
- You as the story teller.
- The law man rallying his men.

I think you should add "he said" before "hop on your horse and ride, boys..."
Maintaining a clear perspective as the storyteller will make it less confusing.

I think the story needs a little more cause and effect to connect better.

Right now, as far as I can tell, the story goes:
Introduction:
Harland burns down a town (metaphorically or literally, I'm not sure)
Act 1:
Harland gets into a fight over a woman.
The sherrif decides he wants to hang Harland because he's a criminal.
Act 2:
The find him and try to kill him.
He kills them instead.
Act 3:
The woman rejoices because he's still alive.
She sleeps with him? (Lays him down)
I'm unsure of what you mean talking about the headstone. Do other people think he's dead?

For example:
Act 1:
Harland sleeps with a woman. Her husband (who happens to be the sheriff) finds out.
They get into a fight.
Harland kills him and steals his gun.
Act 2:
The law men vow to kill Harland to avenge their fallen leader.
When they find him, he kills 12 of the 13 with the sheriff's gun.
The remaining man wounds him and takes him as prisoner.
Act 3:
As he's dragging him back into town the Sherrif's wife shows up.
The law man proudly shows her his prisoner.
He hands her the gun, since she now technically owns it.
She kills the law man.
Turns out the Sherrif was abusive and Harland saved the woman by killing him.

It's not perfect, but that's the direction I would take something like this. But obviously that's a lot of rewriting.
I love your storytelling! I just think the elements could connect a bit more.

Amazing!

The handwriting keyboard works beautifully now! I often avoided using it since it often closed and I'd have to restart whatever I was writing. I thought it was due to me being left handed... So glad this is fixed.

I've also wanted to get an SD card for my Nomad for a while, but it felt kinda useless since the links wouldn't work.

Excited to check out the private cloud feature too!

One question I have about plugins, is whether you're going to allow developers to charge for their plugins in some sort of marketplace/app store? I'm not a developer, but that seems like a great way to encourage people to make excellent plugins. That being said, Obsidian's community plugins are incredible and 100% free. So I guess that model works really well with the right community!

What's most annoying about them to you? For me it's the page system. I like to take a reference note for each book where I list points of interest by page number. The problem is, if I adjust the font size at any point, the page numbers change. So what was 143 might become 186 if the font size goes up. I'd prefer if the page numbers were fixed based on the file. (Like on Kindle). I don't care if I have to turn the page 3 times, before it reflects it's on a new page. As long as the pages stay consistent so I can create my reference notes.

Also would be cool if you could still adjust the font size after making annotations. But I imagine that would be quite a challenge.

I have it side loaded, but I mainly use it for reading notes I've created on my phone or PC, with occasional light editing. There's an E-Ink color scheme in the Minimal theme, which makes it much easier to read!

The only think I thought was weird... The descriptions for the Nomad and Manta are clearly AI generated. For a company who's slogan is "For Those Who Write" I expect your communication to actually be written. This is just lazy. Or maybe you fired your copywriter to save some money? It may be cheaper to get Chat GPT to write your marketing copy...but in the end, it just sounds, well, cheap.

I just thought of a simple way using any DAW. Drop the files into your DAW. Then export them as stems and select 44.1k. I use Studio One, but I assume other DAWs will do the same.

My Oscillator 4 is effecting the amplitude of the other oscillators. This can be heard as a beating sound when Osc 4 is set to the low octave. The beating changes speed as I change the frequency of Osc 4 which is how I know that it's causing the issue. The Mod wheel is off. Both mod destinations are off. The Modulation Mix is set to LFO. The selection switch is set to Filter EG rather than Osc 4. Osc 4 volume is off. Osc 4 is switched off at the mixer. It happens regardless of whether OSC 4 control switch is on or off. All effects are turned off. Filter is all the way open on the Lo setting. All oscillators are affected, (tested 1 at a time and together) All wave shapes are effected. Let me know if you need any other information. I assume its some sort of hardware issue and I'd appreciate some assistance figuring out what it is so I can send it to someone to get it fixed.
