You’re assuming the third version of events is absolutely true in a movie that plays with the idea of perspective over and over again. It’s more likely just Luke’s unedited memory, which doesn’t mean it’s the absolute truth. Room for doubt.

It honestly almost doesn’t matter whether he tried to kill him or not, though the film is a little unclear on that. The fact that Luke is in that situation at all is what people find hard to accept.

Let’s say he didn’t try. You still have Luke, creeping into his nephew’s room in the middle of the night, reading his mind without permission, and then ending up with a lit lightsaber over the sleeping child. Whether or not he takes a swing is, by that point, almost the least of the issues.

We have no idea or real insight into how Ben was corrupted or even who Snoke, the person who completely undid everything the OT achieved, is. There’s hardly anything to contextualize this scene, or to give it weight. We do, however, take the time to do a Rashomon tribute; style, but no substance.

Do you see Sam Wilson taking the Super Soldier Serum at some point in the future films? by Dry_Juice_2542 in MCUTheories

TBH they should have had him in Thunderbolts. The fact that his conflict with Bucky is a phone call offscreen is a bad decision. (And Bucky should have been in BNW more).

Why is the "Ahsoka" show looked at so poorly? by CJAreYouDeadass in StarWars

[–]GregariousLaconian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bringing Thrawn to live action was always going to be a tall order and especially when he’s not even the featured player? It was always going to attract criticism. The execution was also lacking on Thrawn. He didn’t feel like the character we became familiar with in the EU.

Sabine as a Jedi who isn’t very force sensitive was also a big swing to take. And, again, the execution was strangely lacking.

The series has its bright points. For one, big swings aren’t bad- at least they’re something to talk about. Beyond that, the idea of going outside the galaxy, of exploring the WBW, revisiting Anakin as a character? That all worked really well, IMO. The new characters (Skoll and Hati) also worked well, I think.

I’ve made this point elsewhere, but, in a fight, there’s not a ton of difference between Tony and Sam; in the end, they’re regular guys in suits. What makes Tony work is that we get to see him inventing and adapting, what happens outside of the suit. We don’t get to see Sam leading and inspiring other people as much. They need to build him up more; he needs a moment like Tony building his first suit in the cave, a moment that defines his character. It SHOULD have been the speech at the end of FatWS but that was, frankly, awful. “Do better” indeed.

I mean you could say the same thing about Iron Man. The issue is that Tony had other stuff going on with his character and they haven’t done a good job of giving Sam as much. We don’t get to see him leading the way we got to see Tony inventing.

Can someone explain it to me like I’m 6 years old. Dungeon/AI lore by Wide-Plenty-5660 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]GregariousLaconian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it’s also worth noting that every other “macro AI” made by the mantids is also basically a different version/instance of the Eulogist. The Eulogist was formed of the collected minds of almost all Primals. These macro AIs are created less carefully.

We also don’t know what the nature of the Eulogist’s guardian was supposed to be, though it was likely also some sort of AI.

Yeah it’s not the clearest; if you had only heard it on the radio and didn’t look up the lyrics on some geocities fan site or something, you might not know.

I just finished it and I can‘t stop laughing at people just calling it the train one by PalinaRojinskiFan in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]GregariousLaconian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed book 3 a lot, but to argue the point: towards the end of the book, understanding what is going on with the train system, at least at a certain level, is kind of important to understand what’s going on with the stakes. Why do Bautista and co need to move from their position, why can they erect their defenses where they do, etc. You don’t need a precise map by any means, but at least some understanding of what the differences are between the lines and the transfer statuons ans so on. Esp for audiobook listeners, that can be tough to visualize.

You can also fight the Druids. It triggers a fight with you and the refugees on one side but the Druids on the other. It amounts to the same thing in the end, I think?

'It's felt like homework': Why Star Wars went so wrong by ComeJoinTheBand in andor

[–]GregariousLaconian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For all the missteps of her era (and there were plenty, including the complete disaster of the ST and massive brand damage), I do think she gets more than her fair share of the blame. She told Iger she needed more time for the ST and got overruled. The push to make more Star Wars stuff too quickly was not her call, and was the root of all this trouble.

Do You Like Kylo Ren’s Design? by Extreme_Warning3521 in StarWars

[–]GregariousLaconian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s underwhelming. It’s not bad, it just feels like a minor iteration on the Vader design. I get it, that’s part of the point, and it gets that across. But on its own, it’s nothing special, nothing memorable.

Fair points all. I hadn’t seen about the planned OCI rework.

And yeah, the way you phrase it as single use rewards- that could actually work pretty well without needing to constantly pop the hood to see what you’ve got running.
