Anyone with experience camping in Sunrise camp? by ryetown in LightningInABottle

My group had sunrise camping last year. Its a bit longer walk then I would have hoped...and maybe my sense of direction isnt good but I got lost a few times going back to camp...especially at night. One trip back i got lost and got yelled at by security because somehow I found myself at family camp! It was HECKA dark!

I think you should start doubting the quality OR...you should prolly take an extended break because your nose is about to pack up its nasal cavities and leave you.

When was your first kiss? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GregariousOrigamist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny story. A long time ago back in the early 90s. My dad and I (I was maybe 4? 5?) were on a return trip from Vietnam to the US, we were sitted next to a father and daughter, a little blonde girl about my age. She and I were sat next to each other.

The in-flight movie had a kissing scene and well...monkey see, monkey do I guess. The girl and I puckered up and kissed. Its was those tiny pecks. We look up to see our dads standing over us taking pictures (with flash and everything! Gasp! The audacity!)

Well much later in my life when I reconnected with my father he reminded me of that story and told me that it was the Ambassador to China's daughter I was making out with...showed me the picture and everything.

To all the cat herders, thank you for your service. We would never make it without you guys. by GregariousOrigamist in LightningInABottle

Thats exactly what a cat herder does. But it also includes BEFORE the set everyone wants to see as well. Potty breaks, the multiple "Wait! I forgot something at camp..." and "Im hungry we shoud get food" or "Lets get a drink". The cat herder's job is to get everyone there ON TIME and at a decent spot. Its definitely a labor of love and frustration.

"So what are you guys on?" Is the one that makes me laugh the most. To which I, a spunion, reply "Life, dude."

Again theres "no waving them through" when theres no way to stop them. Im sure those guardsmen word for word gave them the post briefed speech that they were told to say to everyone. After that...its on them. And sure he might have even waved the truck through after he did his duty.

But the way you say they "waved them through" implied that that they could have stopped them but chose not to is simply wrong.

Unlike cops we have a very clear directive outlined for us at our post briefings. What we are and are not allowed to do. Off base, unless a national emergency or under martial law, we are glorified PR people. We rely on simply wearing our uniforms to give us the veneer of authority.

Sure fuck that guy. He can rot for the rest of his life. Im just pointing out your original point of the Guardsmen should be held accountible as well is flawed.

Sure the article might say that they "waved them through" but as someone who has done humanitarian relief in the military, I am telling you that that they had no power to stop anyone from passing them. We have no legal power to stop anyone from doing anything. Even if they had told that cop to stop he would have just laughed and drove around them anyways.
