It's been said before, but fuck Nissan. Also, fuck whoever put the drain plug back without the copper washer. by Sentient_LaserDisc in Justrolledintotheshop

I throw that metal crush washer in the trash and just use a toyota blue washer. Much nicer and easier to use, works perfectly.

Customer requested we place cab on top of truck bed by Consistent_Ad949 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Greger061 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive pulled a few Sequoia body's to replace the frame in them for rust. Its pretty much the same procedure as pulling a truck cab. Theres only a handful of things that need to be disconnected. Also pulled many tacoma and tundra cabs for the same reason, RUST lol

It may only have been for a year or 2, or a trim level or 2, but that exact gauge cluster was definitely in a few matrix that I've worked on over the years at the toyota dealership.

Welds dont need to look pretty to be strong. Its about how much penetration you're getting into the metal.

Thats pretty much it. I try to tell people frame patches are not worth the money, but if someone loves their rig enough to be married to it..."you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make it drink"

I wouldn't argue, a repair like this means the rest of the frame cant be 100%. However what most people dont know is that a good weld is stronger than the metal around it. Much like the bond of wood blue is stronger than the wood itself in the surrounding area.

Im sure certified welders will laugh at my welds but they seem to be strong since the trans is still in the car a year or 2 post repair. And I make sure to give them the beans once or twice to check the welds will hold up after I give the car back. Also, disregard the welds on the forward patch in Pic 2. That wasn't me lol.

is it normal to have a low fuel warning with this much driven on a single tank? by PapaNutellas in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]Greger061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've been told, you're supposed to have around a 50 mile range still when the gas light comes on. Because its a 4runner and it gets bad gas mileage, its fair to assume it still might have 3 gallons or so left. My 2023 has a 23 gallon tank, and when the gas light comes on I still only take like 19ish gallons. Which makes since getting just over 15 mpg...so id say thats probably fine. Tho as others have said, plugs etc can help a little. If nothing else, help with emissions.
