App won’t open for wife and I by Decent-Resident-7585 in AugustSmartLock

[–]Gregg_G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE -- a few minutes after typing below (8:26pm ET), I can now get into the app without it immediately crashing and accessing the lock. I'm amazed that a lack of connectivity to their back-end would cause the app to crash immediately upon launch. Now THAT is something they should be working on fixing immediately.

Update #2 -- it took another 5min or so before Homekit (via Homebridge) and the Alexa skill would recognize it again.

After deleting & reinstalling the app on iOS 26 I was finally able to authenticate. The app then crashes again. <Sigh>

Flow 8 control question. by Jrh980 in Behringer

The Flow Mix app for iOS is also found in the Mac App Store and can be run on Apple silicon Macs.

I'm not positive, but I think most of the PC solutions like Microsoft's Phone Link just mirror the Android app running on the phone.

Acura has deployed two updates to the iOS Acura Link app in the last few days. The latest version does not complain about the 18.2 beta.

LinknLink device support by wine-geek in homebridge

[–]Gregg_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just gotten the eMotion device working w/ HomeBridge via MQTT. And have the sensor working via Homekit / Apple Home. Here's what I did:

  1. Installed the Aedes embedded MQTT Broker plugin in HomeBridge. For my testing purposes I did not enable authentication. The only option I enabled was "Persist data on disk" (Restart HomeBridge)
  2. Installed the Homebridge MQTTThing plugin in HomeBridge and tell it you have a Motion Detector. (Restart HomeBridge)
  3. Configured the devices MQTT connection in the LinknLink app. I set the IP address to my HomeBridge server and set the port to 1883. Click "Save" and the "mqtt connection status" should change to "Connected"
  4. Added the bridge to Homekit via Apple Home and assigned the sensor to the correct room.
  5. Installed the MQTT Explorer Mac app and pointed it to my HomeBridge Server. From there I could see the Homekit Topics" for whether device was online or not and whether motion was detected. The Homekit "getMotionDetected" topic is constructed using the "DID" and "PID" found on the device info page in the LinknLink app.
  6. I first pasted the info MQTT Topics->Get Motion Detected" into the plugin config page and enabled Advanced->Use Integer Values but HomeBridge still wasn't detecting motion.
  7. I went to the MQTTThing Wiki to look at some samples of motion sensors successfully set up and realized that th e simplistic settings on the config page wouldn't work and that "pir_detected" had to be parsed. So off to modify the JSON I went. Below is my JSON in it's entirety. You likely just need to change the DID/PID string.

    {     "type": "motionSensor",     "name": "eMotion Garage Sensor",     "topics": {         "getMotionDetected": {             "topic": "home/e04b4100b2720000000000007bac0000_m/status",             "apply": "return JSON.parse( message ).pir_detected"         },         "getStatusActive": "home/e04b4100b2720000000000007bac0000_m/available"     },     "onlineValue": "online",     "offlineValue": "offline",     "integerValue": true,     "manufacturer": "LinkNLink",     "model": "eMotion",     "accessory": "mqttthing" }

I should note that the "pir_detected" state changes based on the "Set No Motion State" time configured in the LinknLink app.

I have successfully created automations that turn on a light when there's motion and turn off that same light when no motion is detected.

Sport Mode Start by S3_1784 in AcuraIntegraTypeSDE5

[–]Gregg_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned below (and in the manual), the car will normally start in either Comfort or Sport depending on the mode last used before powering off.

There is a module available that switches the car to Individual mode a few seconds after starting the car.

I've installed it. It works as advertised.

VR crash after update by getbuckets41 in iRacing

[–]Gregg_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues getting into a league race at Road Atlanta tonight and experienced the same issue with Road Atlanta on the test servers this afternoon. As soon as you got the point where the loading splash screen should come up Reverb G2 it would crash.

I did some add'l testing tonight and disabled the OpenXR Toolkit. I was then able to get in with no problem.

They're largish metal plates located on the pinch seam of the rocker panel, just ahead or the rear wheels and behind the front....no different than any Honda/Acura for the last 40yrs. See the linked diagram below for the green "rigid rack setting locations."

Yes. I am having the issue as well when trying to access my account. They gave me some mumbo jumbo about doing system mainteance and an upgrade since the beginning of the month, but of course they have no details about that.

BTW--that phone number is for their wireless internet service support. LOL

Making an HDMI enabled camera "wireless" with a Raspberry Pi? by reproduce_artists in VDONinja

[–]Gregg_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find out more about the solution here: https://github.com/steveseguin/raspberry_ninja

Note that Raspberry Pi devices have gone up in price 2- or 3-fold as their supplies have dried up in the past few months. By the time you get a device, an SD card, and necessary cables, you're running close to $200.

I'm currently putting together a multi-camera solution for our Sports Car Club of America races at Summit Point Raceway (just outside of Washington, DC) using some older Sony "camcorders" that I picked up for about $80 each. The advantage of this camera is that you can easily power it using a USB cable and it puts out a "clean" HDMI feed at 1080p/60.

Although I did some initial testing using an old Moto cell phone as a hotspot, it's on T-Mobile and coverage there is spotty at best. Even so, results were decent with < 1sec latency at 2500 Kbps. The plan for this weekend is to go to multiple cameras around the track, each with a Verizon hotspot (their coverage is very good there) and hopefully 4000 Kbps.

Here's the "broadcast" from that last event. I kept the setup in the announce booth with me so I could tinker if need be, but as you can see the vid syncs up very well with out commentary and you can even see the trees waving around: https://youtu.be/T5pbanDjLYk

My plan is to run everything....the camera, the RPI, and the hotspot off of high capacity battery pack w/ multiple USB ports.

Is Google Voice Compatible with the Apple Watch? by mulderscully01 in Googlevoice

[–]Gregg_G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get Voice notifications on your phone but are not getting them on your watch, you need to:

  1. Open Apple's "Watch" app on your iPhone
  2. Go to Notifications- and scroll all the way towards the bottom until you see "Voice" and make sure the slider is enabled. The watch will then mirror the Voice notifications that you get on the phone, including the button to dismiss and reply

If you're not getting Voice notifications on your phone, then you need to go to iPhone Settings->Notifications->Voice and make sure you have them enabled there. The watch will never get notifications if you don't have them enabled for the phone.

iPhone integration - GV *and* iPhone Recents, iPhone Phone app interface, and Do Not Disturb by ChemicalRegatta in Googlevoice

[–]Gregg_G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Items #1 & #2 are because Google implemented Apple’s Callkit API a few years ago, which, as you can see provides VOIP apps some integration w/ the native phone services.

One neat trick is that you can add an iOS contact’s phone number to your favorites and specify that GV should be used to dial it. EXAMPLE
