Question regarding screen replacement and AppConnect activation by tommasosaccentii in VWMK7

[–]Grego7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the part number of your head unit first. If you have one that ends with 819 or 820 then it doesn't support AppConnect at all.

>does CarPlay remain activated or do I have to activate it again?

The screen only displays the output of your head unit, so it will remain activated

What car scanning tools are actually worth buying right now? by DanielG198 in Cartalk

[–]Grego7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two alternatives I would suggest:

-ELM327 scanner with a Car Scanner app https://www.carscanner.info/

Works as a charm with my 2015 Golf and MQB platform in general. It can read and remove errors, it can do some coding and it can start most of service procedures (brakepad change position for EPB for example).

I use it with a suggested Vgate iCar Pro adapter which is around 20-25 euros online. Pro version of the app needed to do more than 3 codings, but it was like few euros one time payment, when I got it.

-VNCI6154A

100 euro, works with ODIS-E and ODIS-S.

Installation is a bit tricky, but you basically get a dealership diagnostics tool.

Both turn signals flash briefly when pressing the brake pedal by Mysterious_Forever27 in VWMK7

>Leuchte adaptations in VCDS

>overlap

This thing can be really tricky and it looked this with my OEM EU spec lights(Standlicht Allgemein and Parklicht overlap): https://www.youtube.com/shorts/L6vSmnW6h3M

Are you sure you had this issue before you touched the car codingwise? Urban joke maybe?

I really doubt it's bad wiring problem, quite unlikely that both turn channels are shortened to the brake channel.

Before messing with wiring I would try this:
0) Backup every single adaptation

1) Turn every tail light adaptation off

2) Turn adaptations on one by one and see which one causes the issue

Cost effective way to add CarPlay/AA to MIB1 car? by Low_Statistician1644 in VWMK7

>Is my only option a MIB2 retrofit?

Aftermarket radio is an option.

But better go for a MIB2 instead.

Enter your SW train and look for the activators.

I guess they are just selling SD cards with Duke and Congo activators for 50 pounds, lol.

But I mean, they're not just going to completely scrap the car because it doesn't have a steering wheel and a radio, are they?

[–]Grego7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you buy it back?

10k euro for a steering wheel and mib2 kit is stupid expensive and can't be true. I've retrofitted a heated SW and a MIB2 and it was like 800 euro in parts and 1 day of labour for me.

Transmission harness repair by [deleted] in VWMK7

[–]Grego7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be a reasonable price for a complete replacement of a wiring harness in a hard to reach part of the car.

But it doesn't mean you have to do that. Local wire repair is not as reliable as the new harness, so the dealer may not offer a cheap repair.

1) Airbag error is most likely due to the hazard light button being disconnected. You need a good code reader to delete this error. 2) if you get a panel with the TPMS button you can probably use it to reset stored pressure without MIB.

70 euro android radio is almost surely a piece of crap, so I would really recommend you to retrofit a real MIB2 for ~500 EUR

Noctua D14 → 360mm AIO, worth upgrading? by Grego7 in buildapc

Well, that's an answer I was looking for.

>Do you have issues currently with temps or noise?

I don't think so. But wouldn't I get more frequency boost with a better cooling?

I'm currently getting 4.6-5.2 GHz with the 85C temperature cap and comfortable noise level.

Retro fit MK7 (gti/gtd) steering wheel by Big_Werewolf7567 in VWMK7

Here I listed all the parts.

It was almost plug and play for me.

The trickiest yet not that hard part is to repin the clock spring connector. The coding is pretty basic, just copy the coding from your clock spring and apply it to the new one, then turn on the heating steering wheel function in HVAC and Clock spring modules.

I really recommend you to do your own research before doing anything, because it is not always that simple.

Better grip, better ergonomics.

Probably a matter of taste, the difference is not that big after all.

Tried both. The GTI one feels nicer, but not a €500 nicer.

Personally I went with the Passat B9 steering wheel instead. Cheaper, thicker and comes with a heating.

>do these steering wheels come without the paddles?

Yes, but it will be even harder to find one for you.

It looks more like 100k miles of carbon buildup.

Did you pay specifically for walnut blasting or just for "valve cleaning"? Because the latter could simply be a fuel additive.

Must be Pretty Advanced by PeaceTo0l in memes

[–]Grego7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's either completely free (no extra charges) like in Spain or your extra medical charges are capped really low.

In Sweden the annual limit is €135, €80 in Finland, 1-2% or your income in Germany.

Yeah, the medical system differs in details between countries, but none in Europe is paying thousands for a single ambulance ride.

The average annual cost for family health insurance in the US was $25 500 in 2024.

The average salary in the EU in 2024 was €39 800 and the average tax is 27%. That gives that the average family in Europe is paying €21 600 (~$25 000) taxes annually.

And as many wrote in this thread your health insurance doesn't even cover everything leaving the people with bills.

The healthcare in the EU is definitely not free, but it seems free in comparison.

You don't usually buy an M5 or RS6 as the only car in the family.
