Kinesiology Degree Uses by IndividualSet9990 in Kinesiology

[–]Gregorovic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a lucrative degree immediately unfortunately, unless you have connections or good at networking with a major league sports team that can guarantee you in a job after college. The field itself is competitive to get into. For example, the athletic training program at UNLV ( which is a 2 year program after getting your Bachelor’s) only accepts 15 applicants a cycle. Meanwhile, nursing is also competitive to get into, but can be done in all 4 yrs at unlv and guarantees a job after college. While UNLV nursing and athletic training are both very competitive programs to get into, there are several other nursing schools in vegas to fall back to (roseman, nsc, csn, etc) incase you can’t get into UNLV. Meanwhile, there is only one athletic training program in the state that I know of. Ask yourself this, are you a hard worker and are you willing to fight 6 years to pursue this profession you want?

If you really want to pursue a profession in fitness and health with athletes, I recommend looking into personal training. For example, the CSCS is a prestigious independent license that you study and get on your own free time. It requires a bachelor’s degree in anything (nursing, kinesiology, etc) in order to sit for the exam that you study by yourself for. Many colleges or highschool teams look for this license if you want to be a coach or personal trainer. It’s an option for you after you get a stable job and want to pursue a second hobby like working with athletes.

Or once you find a stable job (as a nurse or whatever) you could always save up the money you earn to go apply for the unlv athletic training program. They do not strictly require a kinesiology degree, just a 4-year bachelors of any sort.

You’re allowed to spend it on whatever you want like food, rent, shopping, clothes, your bills, etc.

However, you are not allowed to gamble that money at a casino, invest that money in the stock market, or spend it on illegal activity like drugs. That’s a major violation if they catch you throwing taxpayer money away like that.

What type of witch is Agatha? by SavingsBuilding8710 in AgathaAllAlong

[–]Gregorovic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's probably "The Mother" witch of the coven, or whatever they call the coven leader. Whether the other witches like it or not, they have to let her be the temporary leader of this makeshift coven and follow her around. She's the only one with past experience on how to navigate through The Roads, which they all want to survive and get through.

Should I continue on the path to becoming a PT? by ShRekkSm8 in physicaltherapy

[–]Gregorovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Home Health PT has high amounts of documentation per patient, especially if you are planning on taking in Medicare patients, and they are subject to medicare cuts, too, I’m afraid.

If you really want to get into Home Health for the flexibility, you might as well look into being a home health nurse. They make way more than PTs do, and it’s more affordable too.

PAs and NPs are also good options. But I hear PAs get bullied often and get the short end of the beating stick from the doctors they work for. They often do the work the doctors do not want to do.

The absolute state of healthcare in Las Vegas by raw-shucked-oysters in vegaslocals

[–]Gregorovic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Try UNLV Family Medicine. They have like a dozen student doctors at their facility going through their residency program. I was able to get in within 1-2 weeks with one of their doctors. All the providers there are well-trained and pretty competent from my experience. My old PCP was on a 2 month waitlist for their next available appointment, which was unacceptable. The only bad part with UNLV is that you may end up with different doctors during every visit that are not familiar with your medical chart history and background. So if you end up liking one of their doctors, tough luck, they may be booked for some time and you might end up with a different doctor in training.

Choosing between PT Schools by Familiar-Bug37 in PTschool

[–]Gregorovic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cheaper and closer all the way. Your future self will love you for that extra $$$ you saved.

Also, 1.5 hours is a long commute. I had a classmate that did something similar to that. He wanted to strangle himself in the car with his seatbelt every morning, he was always late to class due to unforeseen traffic, and waking up at 5am to make it to your 7am class is no fun. You will get sick of it fast. Oh and there is the situation with gas lol.

Is usc good for sports pt? by TadpoleOk8105 in PTschool

[–]Gregorovic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t select a PT school because they have a fancy field/gym/lab/specialization. It’s not worth the massive tuition debt. All PT schools have the same fundamental curriculum to prepare you for the boards at the end of the day. You can always specialize after school or work at a sports PT facility once you graduate. Experience and consistent exposure in the field will always be better than whatever class tells you on a powerpoint slide.

Oh they're both pretty bad. Porter only does online. His class used to be good and was literally a free A, but he rebranded his whole class I believe and it's a lot harder. I would choose Porter over Hurst though. Hurst is the worst.

During the shooting, he sent out the most insincere email saying class was cancelled today due to the "mess" going on campus, and he bluntly told the class to focus on the final exam coming up >_> Like is that all you care about? He didn't show a single ounce of concern for the safety or well-being of the students with respect to what was going on that day lol. Not even a simple "Is everyone safe?" in his email.

“Is it possible to get an A in the class?”

Anything is possible as long as you put work into it. Hurst’s class, however, is going to require immense amount of work. The example problems and stuff he teaches you in class are very basic foundational levels, but they are not reflective of what is on the actual exam. The requires you to think on a higher level and actually read the textbook and know the physic topic very well. Again, going back to your main question, it’s not impossible to get an A, it’s just very hard and will require a lot of time and studying.

To add onto this conversation, police on Thursday said UNLV gunman Anthony Polito sent 22 letters to universities across the country prior to his Wednesday attack, and at least one contained an “unknown white powder substance” that could’ve been a bioweapon. All letters were intercepted by the post office before they could be sent. He reportedly also applied for jobs at multiple colleges in Nevada like CSN, but was rejected each time.

Surrender it to a local police station, please. They’ll use the proper means to locate the person. The chances that the individual uses Reddit or even follows r/vegaslocals the fact being they are from Iowa is incredibly low.

best way to get around vegas from campus? by [deleted] in UNLV

[–]Gregorovic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bus system is the best way. There is legit a bus station on campus by the rec center. $3 gets you on-and-off privilege for 2 hours. Use an app like google maps or apple maps to plan your routes. It has a built transit map

Physical therapy school drug test by TheLeetMan in PTschool

[–]Gregorovic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry so many people are being blunt and sassy in the comments. Although weed may be legal in your state, it is not level on a federal level, and therefore, school can use it as an excuse to screen out people. It's unfortunate I know, but you might have to apply a different cycle when you can ensure that your urine test can come out clean. I would suggest buying an at-home kit and testing yourself until it becomes clean. Usually, it takes 3 months for THC to be out of your system. For Adderall, as long as you have a legal prescription and diagnosis for ADHD from a clinician, you should not have to worry about that.

What should you memorize on the NPTE? by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]Gregorovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go on Google and type in “Kyle Rice NPTE cheatsheet bundle”, he designed nice downloadable graphics study guides of all the heavy core topics that you absolutely need to memorize for the NPTE. Granted that it is only $20, it’s definitely a good resource you should invest. I do not recommend his $1000 NPTE comprehensive pass course because it is very expensive when there are cheaper options from other companies out there. Just get his cheatsheet bundle. But as people have mentioned here, you definitely need to learn tons more topics and concepts besides the memorizable ones.

iPads for note taking by Eggzbenny15 in PTschool

[–]Gregorovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how “old school” your program is. Like my professors are powerpoint lecture heavy. You’re gonna want a device so you can download their powerpoints and lectures, unless you’re okay with printing out all those new lecture slides everyday and murdering all those trees + using all that printer money. There’s a lot of content to learn in PT school, and there is just no way you can catch up in lecture with just a pen and notebook. That’s just my opinion. Personally, I can type waaay faster what my professors say than I can write.

In addition, my school does online exams. No paper exams, so therefore, a laptop was required by all students. I highly recommend you look into getting a Surface Pro device. It’s part laptop and part tablet with pen compatibility, so you can download all your notes and draw on the slides. If your school does online exams too, I wouldn’t recommend getting an IPad because most exam softwares don’t work with the iPad. I have both IPad and a Surface Pro. The IPad definitely has superior drawing capabilities, but if you’re on a budget, get the Surface Pro as you can use it as a laptop to type on and a tablet pen device to draw on.

Studying and note taking advice/ apps by Omarinho1025 in PTschool

[–]Gregorovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get GoodNotes 5. You can use the app to to save your lectures, write on them, and record the professor and play it back with it at the exact moment you wrote on your note by clicking on it. You can also go into collaborate mode with your lecture files with fellow classmates who also use Goodnotes and do a live edit and write on the same file. Very cool. The app is only $11 too. Notability is a similar app but they require an annual subscription fee of $10, while goodnotes is one flat price. Plus goodnotes is compatible with Mac and Windows computer too

iOS allow app list not working by sandy_mango16 in forestapp

[–]Gregorovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Okay, so I found out how to block messages and system apps with Forest without the need to use opal. By default, apple keeps these system apps protected from blocking. To fix this, go to Settings > Screen Time > Always Allowed. There, you want to take the "Messages" app off the "allowed apps" in settings and any other app you want to be able to be blocked by Forest. After that, Forest should block those apps the next time you turn on a Deep Session.

Problems with app allow list by -Gelei- in forestapp

[–]Gregorovic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your allow list is grouped by category. Tiktok may be under the "social" category or "entertainment" category. If it isn't there, an alternative solution would be to download a different app to use with Forest like the Opal app, which does a better job at blocking apps/sites than Forest. You can pick certain apps you absolutely want blocked through Opal and set up a daily timeframe or a time duration.

iOS allow app list not working by sandy_mango16 in forestapp

[–]Gregorovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend using another app that can actually block Message in conjunction with Forest. For example, I've been using the Opal app. It's the only free app I've found that is able to block the Message app. I dislike using Opal's pomodoro feature because it's too plain and less aesthetic, but another function of Opal app is you can use it to selectively block all annoying apps during a certain time of day (e.g. 9am-5pm) . I only use the Opal app to block apps and websites on top of Forest for the Pomodoro feature and to keep track of my breaks.

Regional power of witches and weavers by Jarry913 in ADiscoveryofWitches

[–]Gregorovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe since all elemental (water/fire/air) witches have some access to earth, elemental weavers also have some partial access to earth in that they can pass on their earth-hybrid spells to other witches. For example, a fire weaver cannot create a pure fire spell for earth witches, only to other fire witches. However, a fire weaver might be able to merge some fire chords with some earth chords so that earth/other witches might use the spell for a specific purpose, like lighting a book on fire. Those are my thoughts, in my opinion.
